  • Will the reisgnation of Cynthia Williams have any impact on Dungeons & Dragons? Does this give you hope for D&D's future? Let us know!
  • So the real question. Was she the fall person for those blunders or does she have a better job lined up. Did she get a golden parachute by leaving. Odd timing but there’s more to this
  • @RiceKombo
Thank goodness. She was the worse. And don't accredit her with BG3. That game was in development for 5+years

Let's see who the replacement is. If it's another person with a primarily tech background, then it's likely they're sticking with the current direction, and the push to turn D&D into a "live service" online game will continue.

The last point is really a pretty important one; a lot of the things that came to fruition under Cynthia Williams were started under Chris Cocks, especially long term licensing deals, wider push towards digital formats and products etc. I don't think Williams' departure is going to mean a sudden culture shift or anything big changing on Hasbro's push towards a more digital future for WotC products.

i bet my money on them hiring another corpo exec type and not anyone who actually cares and plays dnd and happens to have a good business background, which is the type of pres. they need.

I mean she had absolutely nothing to do with BG3, that game was almost done relatively speaking when she joined WotC.
  • She was just a scape goat, Chris Cox could have stopped any of the negative things that happened. He could've stopped the ogl event from happening that was the starting cause in a downward spiral of negative events that he also let happen under his command of hasbro. while these negatives are mentioned in this video, whats not mentioned was the amount of subscription cancellations and the boycott of honor among thieves, which was a much better movie than the box office shows because of the boycott that went down over the ogl scandal. he didn't stop any of the negatives while head of the company, so he's, in fact, the real problem.
  • “Corporate missteps”, does not nearly describe how fucking evil what they tried to pull on 3rd party creators during the OGL crisis was. For many people that is their lively hood, and they tried to force them into a position where they would have to forfeit most of their profits. You can’t brush that aside.
  • It’s been soooo bad lately, it could get better. I guess we will see
  • @Itachi45481
I’m more concerned who is the successor hopefully not a hasbro yes man

The guy who spearheaded the OGLpocalypse, Chris Cao still works at the company to my knowledge. Chances are they make him the president.
