Black 3.0 Is This The Blackest Paint? | Stuart Semple & Culture Hustle Review - Unfortunately Black 3.0 just wasn't as good as Black 2.0 in my opinion. I'm obviously aware that there were issues during shipping for the black 3.0 and that might be the reason I had so many issues. Overall I do think the products from Culture Hustle and Stuart Semple are good, I was just left disappointed with the newest blackest paint in the world. Did you purchase black 3.0 and have a different experience with the paint? Then let me know in the comments!

  • For anyone who is using black 2.0 or 3.0 for the first time, you should watch the instructional videos the artist made on how to use it properly to get the most out of the paint. It really helped me out with figuring out which paint was best for my projects
  • 1.) do not apply the paint from the can directly to the paper but to a non-absorbent surface. 2.) use a soft fine synthetic brush 3.) don't put too much paint on the brush and paint thin straight lines on the paper 4.) let the first coat dry for 12 hours and paint a 2nd thin coat. so you see the best result with Black 3.0

Awesome video! Fairly straight to the point (still gotta hit 10 min hehe) great review. I think i know which one i'm going to buy (till we get an update 4.0 maybe haha). Keep it up! Ps: i would have like to see it used on other surfaces and thus other colors. But i'll figure that out when i receive my order ;) Cheers.

Love your reviews! Have you ever mixed these paints with resin, and if so, how did they turn out? Thanks!
  • @fordgud4dall
My swatch test of Black 3.0 against 2.0 on plain ink jet paper showed the 3.0 to be significantly blacker. I also got smudges on my fingers from 3.0 AND 2.0 but I had to rub quite hard on the 2.0
  • @ginaangelea8436
Thanks so much for doing the side by side! I wonder if the 3.0 is developed more for 3d projects than flat application. On your paper the darkness different is minimal but holding up the balls shows much more light absorbition with the 3.0... no matter, thank you so much for the time and effort you took for this and your other review videos. I really enjoyed them.

This is the video that sold me on the best blackest paint. I looked at trying to buy vanta but you can't get it. So it was between Musou, 3.0, and 2.0. 2.0 WINS!!! THANKS BUD!!!
  • Anthony thanks for the review. so i paint on canvas and i'm wondering if i paint a huge section with the 2.0, let it dry, then touch it with my clean fingers, does it leave a smear? i need to paint some borders about 3 to 4" around my art, and that is where customers handle the paintings thus leaving fingerprints on the BLACK!!! ahhhhhhhh...... so if you touch the 2.0 on a flat surface like a canvas, does it leave fingerprints or smudges??? thanks thanks thanks thanks so much!!! Joyous.

one advantage to think about in using a wet brush or adding a touch of water to the 3.0 is it extends how much paint you get. If they both start out at 150ml bottles, the Black 3.0 will actually last longer because you are using less paint if you water it down slightly. Mind you, if you double the coats, then I guess the reverse could be true. At any rate, the camera seemed to pick up a difference between the 3.0 and the 2.0. I guess if you want to ensure you get as close to pure black as possible, go for the 3.0.
  • @GallantGunsmith
I'm debating between getting the 2.0 vs the 3.0 for a Dungeons and Dragons Mini that i'm painting for a friend (it's a Void Dragon that will have a Galaxy-esque design). Which would you recommend for the project?
  • @Adenzel
Very interesting. Certainly on this video the 3.0 is noticeably darker all, so I guess even with it's issues (even if that turns out to be not just because of a dodgy batch) then if your after the blacker black then the 3.0 is worth it.
  • @CKArts.studio6
I'm wondering if maybe stuart semple could send you another bottle and you could do another review for the 3.0. I'm considering the 3.0 but the residue would really annoy me and prob cause other problems
  • Why didn't you try using the 3.0 with a 2.0 base coat like the website recommended?
  • @TheEasyLifee
Can anyone in the comments who like the 3.0 better tell me, if used exactly as they say will it still rub off like it did in this video? I really like how noticeably blacker the 3.0 was, and would probably want to buy it even if there's a couple of extra steps to using it. The only thing is I can't have it rubbing off when something touches it for what I'll be using it for. I know at the end he said it might have been a bad batch, they are fixing it, and this video was posted a couple of years ago so curious if they did.
