THRESHOLD TRAINING WENT WRONG? Half Marathon Training Vlog

In this video I’m running a 5k threshold / interval session at my local parkrun on 11/12. I’m training for the Farnborough Half Marathon on 22nd January 2023. Follow my journey on the ups and downs as a runner, hopefully smashing my PB for the Half Marathon, running sub 88 minutes. Which will be great training going forward as I’m running the Brighton marathon in April for Breast Cancer Now.

    I never put shorts over them.. now that's out of the way 😆.. You get them runs mate, some days, i do kilometre reps and think to myself, "How did i run a 10k at that pace, or how am i going to.. but those are the days that actually grind the result on the day out 👊🏻👍🏻 Good to keep up with your training.. keep at it

    Great running and video. Shame you didn’t get a bit more footage of the handsome chap who finished just ahead 😂. Those turnarounds were icy! I reckon 10 seconds lost there alone.

    Yes, shorts over tights. And tights are worn only when there's snow. Otherwise just shorts.
  • Breathing cold sea air into the lungs will definitely make it feel harder. I reckon you'll notice the difference when it warms up a bit. Well done Chris 👍

    I don’t wear shorts unless the temperature needs it. Below 3 degrees tights, -2 shorts and tights. Below -4 double layer on the legs. This assumes it is dry, add rain or wind into this mix and it might be a different answer. This is different if I am racing, I have worn short and not tights at -1 for 5 and 10k races this winter.

    No shorts. It's a power move. Proves that you're more confident than anyone wearing shorts, especially Dan. As far as the run goes, you've always gotta adapt for the conditions. I'd be interested to see your HR during that run as there's a chance you were over threshold in the first few ks. I t would be interesting to investigate how this cold affects the way your body performs.

  • Don't wear the shorts ,it's winter so wear the tights keep warm and stay positive, your not gona hit the times always ..enjoy the process

    It's so hard to run in the cold weather. Your body needs to warm up that air inside your body. Well do nonetheless Chris!!

    Treating us to slurping sounds this morning... is that your way to get us on edge for the day??😁 Well, with this extreme cold, I don't feel toooo sad to be stuck on the elliptical machine and bike at the gym these days with a twisted ankle!!
