The 3 sea shells are one of the great mysteries of cinema history.

“Fuck you lady” Best kid line ever😂

Wesley Snipes absolutely ATE every single scene he was in. for me, he was THE standout performance in this movie and you could tell he was having a blast while filming. Demolition Man will forever be up there as one of my top 5 favorite action movies of the 90s. thanks for the reaction guys! ❤
  • @daverowe03
This movie was actually released 8 months before "Speed." Both of those movies combined to make her a star.
  • @Reefism
Wesley Snipes was still new to action movies when this came out. Passenger 57 (1992) was the first film where he displayed his martial arts skills! So seeing him share the screen with Sylvester Stallone was awesome to see!

The old dude was just in the next room. There was a split second where the big dude looked slightly to the side and it was a hint that he was just in the next room.

I fell in love with Sandra Bullock because of this movie, she is spectacular.
  • @Raptor213
The director of this movie has said that even to this day, the main question he is asked at conventions is "How do the three seashells work?"
  • @falcon4196
The 3 seashells came about because the screenwriter (Daniel Waters) wanted there to be something futuristic about the bathroom. He couldn't come up with an idea so he called a friend to ask for one. The friend had decorative seashells in his bathroom and thus the 3 seashells were born. Stallone has said he was told by one of the writers that shells 1 & 2 are used like chop sticks to pull out the poop. Shell 3 is used to scrape out the excess. This is the closest to an official answer.

Fun fact: In Europe, Taco Bell was replaced by Pizza Hut because there weren't any Taco Bells there at the time. So when streaming, you can tell you're watching the international version based on what franchise is featured.
  • @benlongstreth
The swearing machine gag still kills me. Its so good.
  • @dylanburton4955
Stallone and Snipes are so good in this movie, I love their back and forth and Stallones chemistry with Sandra is also really top notch
  • @adamgoss3638
Theory: the 3 seashells is a culture and industry-wide standard design for a bidet control system, they just can't be bothered to explain to Spartan that it's a bidet - but then again, can you imagine having to explain toilet paper to someone in real life? (someone not a toddler)
  • @dgirl786
Yes, excited for this one! We had a bunch of VHS tapes growing up, and this 90s classic along with Die Hard, True Lies and Lethal Weapon were always on hand for a good time. 🧡
  • @shainewhite2781
Screenwriter Daniel Waters got the idea of Demolition Man from watching films like THE TERMINATOR and Lethal Weapon and blended the two together, but instead of using time travel, he thought the hero and the villain should be cryogenically frozen and wake up 100 years in the future where crime is outlawed and when these two face off, the future isn't big enough for the both of them.
  • @toodlescae
There are theories and a story Stallone said one of the writers told him about the function of the 3 seashells. The truth is that 30 years later everyone is still just as boggled as John Spartan about how to use them. 😂😂
  • @DoctorOctopus63
The Running Man is another great film as well. I remember as a child watching a tape that my mum recorded of a really wholesome short kids film but when winding through the tape I discovered that the Running Man was fully recorded on the VHS. So I watched that instead, can't recall if Running Man was taped over the kids film maybe that's why it was short but I love Running Man and felt like you discovered something you were not meant to watch. My mum is a child/teen of the 80s so I grew up on those films so along with Demolition Man this is where my love of 80s action films came from.
  • @glennwelsh9784
John Spartan's daughter was in the movie at one point. She's one of the "scraps" living underground. During the scene when Phoenix ambushes Spartan and Edgar Friendly, you can see John briefly using his body to shield a woman from Phoenix's gunfire. That was her, but the scene in which they recognize each other was cut from the movie.
  • First seashell activates the belt sander, seconds ignites the blow torch, and the third starts the wire brush and the Neosporin and lemon juice spray.
