Official Lyrics:

Say you’re sorry, that face of an angel
Comes out just when you need it to
As I paced back and forth all this time
Cause I honestly believed in you
Holding on the days drag on
Stupid girl, I should’ve known
I should’ve known, that

I’m not a princess, this ain’t a fairytale
I’m not the one you’ll sweep off her feet
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain’t Hollywood, this is a small town
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it’s too late for you and your white horse
To come around

Maybe I was naïve, got lost in your eyes
And never really had a chance
Well, my mistake, I didn’t know to be in love
You had to fight to have the upper hand
I had so many dreams about you and me
Happy endings, well now I know

Repeat chorus

And there you are on your knees
Begging for forgiveness, begging for me
Just like I always wanted, but I’m so sorry. . .

Cause I’m not your princess, this ain’t our fairytale
I’m gonna find someone someday
Who might actually treat me well
This is a big world, that was a small town
There in my rearview mirror disappearing now
And it’s too late for you and your white horse
Now it’s too late for you and your white horse
To catch me now

Oh, try and catch me now
Oh, it’s too late to catch me now

  • The old version sounds sadder and this version sounds like she moved on because she finally found someone who treats her well.

Old Taylor has answered the phone & she's coming back stronger than a 90s trend
  • @liataylor9959
She never changed she just grew up. And found someone who treats her better.
  • @iannegail2928
I could hear her smile in the line "I'm gonna find someone someday who might actually treat me well" she finally found that someone🥺
  • “All i want is you, do you love me?” “Yeah” “Can you give me another chance?” “No”

FELLOW SWIFTIES remember do NOT stream the original album anymore. We stream what she owns. Show your loyalty. This woman saved some of our lives. Let's save her masters
  • Fun story: I was in 7th grade when this song came out. A girl at a summer camp wanted to sing this song for the talent show, but the camp didn't have karaoke equipment so she sang it from memory. Halfway through, she got nervous and forgot the lyrics and the entire audience started singing along with her and she finished the song. 😚

she finally found someone who actually treats her well, i’m not crying, why would you think that

“I was a dreamer before you, and I let me down.” Forever an underrated lyric.
  • @theaditisharma
She really doesn't need to make MVs for her songs. She paints the picture of every lyric in my mind with her storytelling.

13 years later and she finally found someone who actually treats her well. i'm crying
  • @justreading1944
"I was a dreamer before you went and let me down" my heart is breaking.
  • 2:53 she changed the lyrics, instead of, "This ain't a fairytale," she changed it into, "This ain't OUR fairytale," AND I WILL FOREVER CRY ABOUT THAT
  • Anyone re listening to this after hearing her and Sabrina Carpenter sing it together ❤️
  • @carlsilva_
