Hasbro took over the rights to action figures based on Marvel Comics characters in 2006 from ToyBiz - the company who created Marvel Legends and made the historic action figures from the first two Spider-Man movies by Sam Rami and staring Tobey Maguire. While Hasbro would go on to raise the bar again and again for character selection and quality with their own Marvel Legends line, their initial offerings were...well, they were crap. They were not in scale, had lacking articulation and pain applications and were generally not good. Thankfully, Diamond Select's MiniMates line came to the rescue producing the action figures for Spider-Man 3 that we didn't even know we needed.

I miss the days you could walk into any store and pick up a toy that just came out, unlike today with purgatory like pre order wait times and scalpers snatching up every physical unit in their local town to up sell them online.
  • Honestly, I think the 6 inch and 5 inch versions of Venom look a lot better than what we actually got in the movie.
  • @ka.studios
15:15 The black suit red suit variant figure came from a second wave of 6 inch Spider-man 3 figures, also known as the 'trilogy wave'. Basically this wave gave us a huge ton of repaints and all are actually pretty good, example of figures in this wave are repaints of Doc Ock and Green Goblin (again) , Super Poseable Spiderman 2 figure repainted twice in 1 wave, spinning kick spiderman from Spiderman 2, re release of the black suit along with its variant, A 6 INCH VERSION OF THE 5 INCH SUPER POSEABLE BLACK SUIT and even the wrestler suit Spiderman from the 1st movie figure wave. This wave was release around 2009 and its very unknown to many people. I hope this helps answer your question :)

l love the title. l get so urked when a see figure reviewers get so hyped telling the viewers they have some awesome figures from the Raimi spiderman movies and they bring out these monstrosities hasbro put out with the third film. l hated hasbro for so long because l felt like they just muddied a toyline that l loved so much
  • You gotta admit that the fact that they also included the video game versions of some of the villains was pretty cool
  • Those 5 inch figures still hold a special place in my heart, those were the figures I played with growing up, and I will always love them for that

I always thought of Minimates as fancier Lego for not-quite kids without giving them the respect they deserve. After this video, no longer can I imagine them that way...

That MJ base is actually apart of the warehouse floor, that’s why she also comes with the 2 by 4 that she wielded in the the movie.

Imagine if toybiz had made the figures to Spider-Man 3.
  • i was obsessed with these 5 inch figures as a kid. especially when they started making their own interpretations of all the more classic villains like shocker, scorpion & mysterio
  • I wish someday Hasbro would Remaster all these action figure from the entire spider verse including Sam raimi and Marc Webb’s for marvel legends.

Man this video just took me back, I used to have a bunch of the Hasbro Spider-Man 5 inch figures when I was a kid. So bummed I donated most of my childhood toys but I hope they went too a good home :)
  • I remember having so much fun with these toys when I was a kid. My favorites were New Goblin and Sandman. My sandman figure took a lot of abuse and eventually got worn out. The hand attachment lost one of its fingers when the soft rubber-y material got ripped off from constant play. Good times.
  • This video brought back memories I didn't even realize I still had... Wow! I remember that Doc Ock figure! His tentacles could bend around, and he came with little glasses you could take on and off (terrible decision, I lost them so fast). The New Goblin figure came with his green sword and hoverboard that you could move around (terrible decision, I lost them so fast). The Spider-Man figures themselves I had a couple different red suit versions and a few black suits, I remember how the torso could bend around but the shoulders were always impossible to move upwards. That Venom figure was so cool too.
  • Look I get Spider-Man 3 wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but when my parents introduced me to this film when I was 2 or 3. I was obsessed forever. I wanted all those action figures that were being released but they didn’t sell them in Australia at the time, only in the US :( But this movie was the best and I loved Venom and Sandman, and Harry Osborne Green Goblin. Knowing the backstory doesn’t make me think otherwise. This movie is MY number one Sam Rami Spider-Man Movie. With second being the first and the third being the second. I love Spider-Man 3, even 12-13 Years later!
  • @SpideyFan2002
Wanna know something awesome? Bully Maguire happened not once, but twice in action figure form. One of the Medicom Spider-Man 3 figures (1/6 scale ones) was actually Bully Maguire with his same iconic clothes (the one with the jacket & jeans btw).
  • I've never seen these Spider-Man 3 6-inch figures before! And that Mini-Mate Gwen is so cute!
  • @gabethebabe3337
Those extra villains were from the Spider-Man 1 and 2 games. It was really cool seeing some sense of continuity growing up with these.
  • The Spider-Man 3 line had its ups and downs but to 7 year old me it was amazing only figure I didnt like as a kid was the black suit Spider-Man covered in sand cause he was stuck in that funky pose
