I’m a Presbyterian continuationist. I don’t believe that the gifts ceased, but I believe they continued.

Just this summer I met a young woman who was instantly healed of lupus in a healing service held online during Covid. Her father is an MD. Before she was healed, she was literally dying. Doctors were going to remove her uterus in an attempt to save her life. She was instantly healed that day. A year later, she gave birth to a healthy baby. I saw video taken the day she was healed. She was obviously sickly. She was taking more medicine than you can imagine. When I met her, she was healthy and vibrant, full of peace and joy and faith. I don't remember her last name, but her first is Gabby. I am aware of other cases of healing through prayer as well. Most are not dramatic, but we seem to see more healings when we pray for them and expect them. I think if you're not seeing them yourself, it could be because you are not expecting to or because you are looking in the wrong place. If you have concluded that the gifts have ceased, how can you pray in faith for them? Paul says to eagerly desire spiritual gifts. So why shouldn't we?

Very good review! I watched the film at G3 conference and as a former associate pastor in an Assembly of God church for 17 years, I found it extremely biblically compelling.

I am impressed with the scholarship of the film. I think it represents the position of continuationists honestly an accurately, no straw-men. It is definitely an opinion piece, and it lays out its case very well.

Not everything can be understood by our minds all the time and so; Proper understanding at this point teaches us that we must be content to 'believe where we cannot prove', accept where we cannot understand, and realize that the final synthesis is to be found in GOD's Holy Being and character. My fellow elder in the movie played Moses. Much of the amazing artistic work was done by a member and fellow teacher in our church, Matt Almy. Matt also played Elijah. David Lovi now teaches at our Christian school. Other church members played minor roles in the film. So I had a lot of confirmation bias you could say.

As a continuationist, I’ll watch the documentary with a little bias as I can control.

I honestly have to say, I’m Asian American and my family is of shaminism background. Does any one know of how hard it is to convert someone of a strong rooted religion that is tied into there culture? Unless we saw miracles or come to the knowledge of the risen Lord Jesus Christ miraculously we wouldn’t believe. Because to us at one point Christianity was painted as a white man religion. I see why so many people on the outside look at us and say they want nothing to do with Christ now because of these unbelief we fight against each other. I’m happy a cessationist didn’t preach me Christ or else me and my parents would still be lost till today! This is so sad they made a movie like this that even my soul grieves at all my brother and sisters in Christ.

To argue for cessationism is like the kid who can't swim, so he says that God doesn't give the gift of swimming anymore.

The big problem with the documentary is that they did not engage with the Continuationist Argument in which many of them have even avoid. Justin Peters, John MacArthur have even avoid debating Dr Michael Brown and Dr Sam Storm on this issues. This arguments that they present in the film have already been refuted by: Jack Deere, Michael Brown, Sam Storm, Craig Keener, and Wayne Grudem to name a few.

I wish it weren’t so difficult to find reformed churches that know the Power of God the Holy Spirit. Charismatics should resolve this by teaching /preaching sound doctrine more.
