Quote him a solar attic vent too! It will keep his bills down.
  • They would ultimately benefit from some vents. The unit would also run cooler inside that attic. I bet the temps in the house would drop from that venting alone.
  • @danwesten2771
U sure are tolerant. I used to write up and recommend the customer get attic professionally ventilated and treated. A few days later a bunch of no name trucks and guys on the job in flip flops would be seen going in and out of the place with equipment. A few weeks later a call would come in to check the new equipment for not working and original installer unable to be located and I'm back writing up the same attic recommendation with the customer going "they told me my attic would be addressed". 😆😆😆😆

We Feel your Pain and Heat 🥵 in that Horrible Attic. 👍🙏
  • @hinspect
Talk them into ridge vents before the changeout! 😁 Great Video 👍
  • @kens.3729
Maybe the Customer will Resume Calling you on a Regular Basis in the Future since you’re a Seasoned Professional HVAC Technician. 🤔👍🙏

Be sure to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! 🥵. Hi Riley!
  • @dfirth224
I thought there were certain code requirements regarding attic ventilation. Here in CA when older homes are re-roofed the roofers are required to add MORE attic vents. And now there are new codes for installing fire resistant vents in fire prone areas. In my inland area 105 - 110 degrees is not unusual in July and August.
  • Damn unit looks like it hasn't had a Maintenance in ages, or ever‼️
  • @kens.3729
Preventative Maintenance helps Eliminate an Outage like this Call. 🤔 Since we have Natural Gas Service for Furnace and Water Heater, we Don’t take Unnecessary Risks.
  • @jthonn
Well there is a slab coil. It's on an angle, mine is straight up and down vertical and a leaker. I'm still limping her along, change out is inevitable. Good call, I hope you can talk to them about attic ventilation. At first when you pointed out the oil on that copper, I thought repair was possible until you found the real culprit. Thanks for sharing
  • @dashcamandy2242
No soffit, gable, or peak venting? Well, that's a bit silly! Excess ambient humidity might explain the "flaky pastry" type of rust. Good to hear you're getting the job; hopefully you'll be back on a day when it's cloudy and in the mid-50s. 🤞
  • @Mudo94
Having some kind of vent will definitely help the system. Especially the duct work. Last year had a temp drop of I believe 7-10 degrees on small section of flex duct. Unvented attic as well
  • @richlikeg3722
I’m surprised you got another another Infinicon detector. Hopefully they give you a free one.
  • @geronimome4153
Thats dangerous temps to be in. You should limit your time up there to avoid heat stroke
  • @OnusBones
That was a little runt of a compressor! Was it even 2T? That changeout will be some hot work up in that attic.
  • Big fan. We like to troubleshoot along with you so if you put your hand on the suction line to it’s temperature, please let us know what you feel so we can add that to our own symptom list
