  • "The aliens play pranks on you." Sounds like something one of the sillier Ultraman characters would do haha

Slow burn games are generally the best at evoking horror, but if you stay in the horror for too long it becomes routine. Levity now and then will ease the tension and let it build back up.

Though honestly Voices of the Void is a lot more scary than Signal Simulator. Sure Voices of the Void breaks tension often but when it's seriously trying to scare you it is much more effective than Signal Simulator. You get used to the scares Signal Simulator pulls very quickly and there's not too many of them either but yes both games have scared me on mutliple occasions
  • Voices Of The Void is the best Going Insane At A Swiss Radio Telescope While Invisible Aliens Bully Me simulator.
  • @SteamedIguana
Been watching Joel play this since the beginning, did not expect to find you covering Voices of the Void! Absolutely love this game, I'm excited to see your take on it!
  • Id say Signal Sim is less scary, It's primarily a job sim, the horror elements are more subdued than Voices of the Void

A little levity never hurts for games like this

The password to the base is actually a reference to "Meet the Spy" when the blu soldier is trying to open a door and puts the code 1111

Two things I like about this game is 1) For a big part of the start, it places you into a false sense of security to the point that you even foget you are playing a horror game. And 2) It does not rely on jumpscares to scare you, it builds up tension, its a slow burn kind of horror.

Does Ultraseven appear to fight the aliens?

Would love to see more weird games reviews here and there o/
  • Voices of the Void is a great example of what a horror game should be For example: People discovered a new alien creature a few days ago. The game hasn't been updated for over a few months.
  • @maqvy
would love to see you do reviews on other games! this is a fun vid

I’m so tired of recent horror games shoving jump scares and quick horror thrill tropes in your face constantly, or dropping you into some decrepit place and throwing a monster in there to chase you. This slow burn horror is such a good palette cleanser. While there are monsters in this game, it’s a slow experience that builds so much anxiety and fear so when the monster does appear it’s a good payoff. Something a lot of horror games of recent should learn to do.

Here’s a tip: sleep during the day instead of the night for a spookier and more eventful experience
  • I know it really isn't on the plates of the developer, but I would LOVE to play it with friends, especially if I'm able to get them to download it without knowing what they're getting into. Hard to say it'll happen though, I've heard its a concept, but its not in the works atm.
