Considering Deltarune’s themes of freedom and control, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Knight ends up also being controlled by some sort of higher power, which if Papyrus ends up being the Knight would be extremely heartbreaking to see Papyrus being manipulated like Kris is, especially if he sees nothing wrong with it or is too naïve to realize how messed up his lack of freedom is

If the knight is anything like Asgore and isn't just a generic villain with typical villain motives (despite sort of being teased as one early in the game) then I could see him being Papyrus.

have you ever thought about how Papyrus in Undertale idolizes Undyne, who we see for the very first time in a distinctly knight-like suit of armour? a hybrid of those two designs could absolutely work. Papyrus, having reached the recognition and reverence he always wanted to get, but ultimately being far too carried away in the act he needed to put up in order to do it

I'd love it if Papyrus was the knight all along. It'd be a true contrast to his wholesome Undertale persona

Like how this track is mostly original and doesn't incorporate Nightmare Knight like other fan made themes.

Papyrus is the knight. After all, a guard all he ever wanted to be. And what is a knight but a royal guard? Papyrus is somewhat of guard himself.
