One of the most important advice for musicians of any kind (and for rest ppl too). When I was young impatient kid I aquired bad habit to accelerate while learning fortepiano, and if I somehow managed to finish classes successfully, later it turned out against me, when I started with classic guitar, it was just crashing blow to my ego, so I give up and quit learning quickly. Thank you very much for sharing wisdom.
Correggere certe cattive abitudini poi diventa difficile. Ancora grazie. Consigli preziosi
  • Hi. Greetings from Manchester uk. Yes that sort of is me. Started playing GJ about 2 years ago. Made some pretty good progress. Had an illness that stopped me playing for 3months which has set me back 😢😢. This is a great back to basics workout. Sometimes I think I’ll never get the double down stroke, not at speed anyway?? I’ll take your advice. Great video. Many thanks. Will.

This took me awhile to realize, but the problem is that i am 40 so speed is something i doubt will come in my lifetime. Genetics hits you hard, but i believe if i ever have a kid i can pass along the rest stroke through my dna. But i will have to thank Christiaan van Hemert for teaching it, and the players who showed him. For me my speed if i was to learn a new song would only get to the speed of elevator music. 😅 but i do know it could get faster, it just takes tens of thousands of quality repetitions in a quality setting. Problem is in Texas there are no gypsy jazz communities to jam with which is unfortunate, we have other cultures here which unfortunately my soul doesnt resonate with. I think it is probably our danish heritage why i gravitate towards gypsy jazz, i think i have heard my parents say we might have migrated here from denmark.

yes - I think this is brilliant lesson and advice 👍 And it fits perfectly to what I am working on currently after the week in Samoreau inspired me to work again on typical arpeggio phrases. In my "Gipsy Jazz resarch lab" I am currently investigating an imo fantastic and very typical phrase that the great Adrien Marco plays at lightning speed and with amazing precision. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn7OTjXsC3I Phrase is between 1:43 - 1:48 just in case you or anyone would like to look :) Great that you are sharing your knowledge in these vids and in your new book
