I'm from Afghanistan and I went to Shaolin Temple in China 5 years ago. One of the important thing I noticed that Chinese people really respect the fact that Budhidharma is from India and he brought this shaolin culture to China. Many cultures and countries don't recognise an art or fact that isn't theirs. my respect to both India and China ❀
  • Sadhguru finally talked about Shaolin Temple and Bodhidharma. I just thought of Bodhidharma these days and Sadhguru started talking. I am Chinese

This video is exactly how I have been taught AND experienced Shaolin kung fu. We regard Bodidharma as the first patriarch of both Shaolin kung fu, chi kung (internal aspect) and zen. And before him ofcourse the line of teachers back to the Buddha. Unfortunately the current Shaolin temple in China is a tourist trap. I mean no offense, it is a great wushu school but the essence of Shaolin was almost eradicated from China in several instances from before the fall of the Qing dynasty and especially the cultural revolution. Fortunately the arts live on outside China and in China itself several Daoist schools still maintain a very high level. For those genuine in their searching, when you are ready a master appears. Don't limit yourself - genuine yoga, kungfu, Taoist arts - different brands but the same essence. They are humanity's greatest treasures.

In Korean he is known as Da-Mo πŸ€“ Another great talk by the Master
  • Bodhidharma lived to be 150 years old. He is of the Kshatriya race. He sailed from India to Guangzhou and then went north. Several of his disciples are also famous in China. I am Chinese.

I remember going to stay at Shaolin Temple in 2000. Hard training. Bodhidharma's Cave is up on the hill above the Temple. Dhyana was pronounced "Chan" by the Chinese and Chan Buddhism spread to Korea where it is known as Seon and then onto Japan where it is known as Zen. We can say that Shaolin was the first Zen Buddhist Temple. This is a great connection between India and the Far East. Also, later the Chinese Monk Xuanzang in the Tang Dynasty travelled to India to collect the Buddhist Sutras. India and China and the Far East share strong spiritual links.
  • It just moved me into tears when he chopped off his hand. The deepest level of sincerity and determination. Nothing can be denied to such beings. May you have such sincerity in your quest for the ultimate. πŸ˜πŸ™πŸΎπŸ˜

general shen's story makes me think of isaac netero from hunterxhunter. The character must have been inspired from general shen. I cannot even imagine the intensity of devotion and courage it requires to make such a sacrifice without a second thought. Truly inspirational.

Bodhidarma was also an expert in Buddhist Kasina Bahvna meditation, a meditation based on the nature elements and that’s why Shaolin body transformation meditation is also based on the 5 elements techniques.
  • I'm from Brazil and I like many cultures. I am very sad because all of the great cultures of the Orient, African cultures, Aztecs, Incas, Mayans, the culture of the indigenous people who lived in Brazil suffered a lot from wars, unfortunately the world is not a friendly place, but I am very happy every time I admire your countries, your cultures, the human being really is incredible.
