By the time I was six years old in 1967 I could impersonate Julia Child perfectly much to the dismay of my parents. I would run around our Brooklyn apartment saying, “Welcome to the French Chef, I’m Julia Child.” I absolutely adored and was fascinated by her cooking. While most children were asking for Mac & Cheese... l was asking my Mother for Boeuf Bourguignon with a French accent nevertheless. Thank you, I sincerely enjoyed your video.
  • Such an outstanding woman! Here I am 44 feeling like my life is over! Julia is making me feel revived for my second act! I make her beef bourgeon for my father in law! It’s a show stopper!

I love that I came across this because I’m watching the series about her on HBO. She was a fascinating woman. ❤️

I was looking for a documentary on Julia Child and was about to search elsewhere when I realized this was a presentation. But I'm glad I stayed, I've enjoyed it immensely.

When I was a kid me and my friends would walk by her house... she was a star because she was on WGBH TV 2 ... We used to see her if we were lucky... she was the first famous person I ever saw in person... ...My mother was a great cook by the way... Now years later I watch these episodes to hear her voice and enjoy her personality ... it's centering believe it or not.

This was a WONDERFUL lecture - it never, ever got even close to dull, so it passes the acid test for public speaking with flying colours! Bravo Sharon Hudgins. Granted, you had a fascinating subject in the magical, intolerably charismatic & loveable Julia Child. But someone of lesser talent than you could never have created such a great presentation, that - while inevitably only touching the surface of such a complex personality - still did justice to her glory. Thank you, I was thoroughly entertained while learning a great deal I didn't know, about a great lady. The fact that her immense, international success came in middle age is inspiring to many of us who are no longer in the first flush of youth!

I grew up watching her, I always admired how she could cook without looking at what she was doing at times and her voice, oh man did it calm me💕

thanks for this informative presentation. I also have an envelope of postcards/notes from Julia. We became friendly when I worked at a bookstore and we carried on a correspondence for a number of years. A terrific woman !

7-29-2022 I learned how to cook from Julia Child many years back and got pretty good at it (he says immodestly). She was inspirational and such a compelling teacher her influence has lasted with me for more than half a century. She’s a much beloved personality to my family to this very day. Her clarity and directness opened domestic American cooks to being adventuresome trying new ways of cooking. As a nation we are indebted to her for moving us from our mother’s era of Betty Crocker cooking to cooking tasty, memorable and luscious foods. Over many years I taught my 3 sons to cook under Julia Child’s guidance and mindfulness. They’re appreciative and their wives are thankful to Julia too.

What I love about Julia is she created all her own opportunities. And by doing this, she led the way for women everywhere. There are no limits. Build your world. As a man I am grateful for women like her. She is my idea of feminism. A total winner.

Inquisitive to the last. Adventurous, forever a keen study on every aspect of her craft to better learn techniques, applying them to her specialty french cuisine. Life is almost always like how julia lived it. Picking up bits and pieces, people and stories along the way to better navigate going forward.

I remember reading that article in Stars and Stripes!!

Wow there's a lot of information I didn't know about Julia, in particular her early life. I tend to forget how old she was when she wrote her first book and started on television, so I never really thought about what she was doing before that? This was a wonderful presentation. Thank you!
  • I watched her today on YouTube, then came to this, what a fab woman, and so natural, I love the way when she drops food or misses when she flips, she admits it and just carries on regardless. TY for posting

A fascinating talk - I was disappointed initially but drawn in, and enjoyed this; a new insight for me on Julia Child and her sheer gusto for cooking, life, everything ... and she loved cats too! Love the photo of the cat sitting in the sink while she prepares the chicken. And never mind the food police! Agree wholeheartedly. A very great lady.
  • Julia it's 2022 and I just bought your two cookbooks, The Art of French Cooking. Thank you and after all of these years, you're still relevant
