He knew millions of people were going to watch this interview. That's why he cracked so many jokes to comfort all of us knowing that he's okay and to stay positive. What a great guy, truly inspiring.
  • @edub9930
He turned the interview into the Tonight show. Absolute legend. 👏

Jay is the definition of a class act. 73 years old with 2nd degree burns on his face and he drives home to reassure his wife. I love this guy so much ❤️

Every serious mechanic I've ever known (including my Dad) has always laughed and joked about the horrible things that have happened to them while working on vehicles. Jay is as real as they come. Glad to see he's alright!

This stuff is no joke. This is how I lost my dad. Flooded carb on a tractor , battery spark while his face was over it , breathed all that in . He lasted 5 days in the hospital so this shakes up some bad memories but Jay is a national treasure as well and I’m glad to see him make it in good spirits
  • I am amazed at how quickly and well he healed. That burn center does amazing work.
  • As a kid I was in a bad fire I had burns to 40% of my body, months in the hospital and therapy afterwards, I had so much trouble sleeping because of the PTSD I would watch Jay on the tonight Show at 3 in the morning, his comedy helped me through some difficult times, it was horrible to hear that he went through something similar, I'm so glad he's okay and still has his sense of humor, God bless you Jay, you kinda saved my life and I'm so glad someone was there to save yours
  • For any car nut, Jay is a beloved, national treasure. Kudos to Dave for instantly reacting to the fire, saving Jay from a more serious outcome. The pictures of the burns that Jay suffered are far worse than what the car community first believed, especially considering his relatively short stay in the burn treatment center. A credit to the doctors and nurses who worked on Jay & the burn healing technology we have today.
  • Jay is a regular at my job in Beverly Hills and I gotta say he’s the kindest guy. Super quiet, polite, gracious and always takes time to talk to people that recognize him.

Jay's been given a free facelift by the fire, he's lucky it's had a positive look to his appearance. It's a miracle
  • This interview tells you everything you need to know about him. His perspective and desire to downplay the attention shows you the humility and genuineness.
  • @Jascolbre
72 years young and still just as sharp and funny as he was when he was tonight show host. Absolute legend.
  • @JSAFIXIT
He's handled this so well. His attitude towards it most definitely helped. I'm glad he's recovered so well.

As a burn victim myself, Jay is very lucky to look the way he does and I wish every day my skin graphs looked as good as his. Going to the store waiting in line people look at you differently. Some with the look of sorrow and others with the look of discuss like I'm unworth to be in the presence of others. I lost count on the number of people that thought they were being sneaky snaping pictures of my burns. I'm young and have to deal with this for the rest of my life.
  • So glad he's made a recovery - he always brings a smile to your face - an absolute icon. God Bless Jay Leno.
  • Kudos to the medical team. Jay is very fortunate not to be disfigured. Seems like his sense of humour never left him.
  • @nastrodomis
Jay is a national treasure. Glad he is ok and he took it in stride apparently. Truly an example for young people these days.
  • @tootall4646
So glad Jay is okay and making a great recovery. He is a class act.
