Top 7 Scooters with Affordable Prices and Unmatched Fuel Efficiency in 2020

Published 2019-11-09
Although modern transportation industry provides us with many commuting options, there are still situations, when we need to resort to smaller vehicles to get to our destinations faster and more conveniently. No matter where you are from - India, America or Asia - It goes without saying that in most cases we can get around the city or suburban areas by car, motorcycle or public transport but in case of last mile travel these options don't always work.

That is why such smaller vehicles as bicycles and scooters still remain popular nowadays. Both of these types of transport are easy to buy, manage and service, they have low running costs too (in case of a bicycle they are almost minimal). If pedaling is something, that you can't do on regular basis, then low displacement scooter and motorcycles are your go-to options.

Modern 50cc scooters are efficient enough to last over one hundred miles on one gallon on fuel. They sound like an ideal solution for commuting around the city or making short trips around the campus.
This video can serve as a brief overview of the best scooter models that are available for purchase today. Media for all scooter models presented here was obtained for educational and illustrative purposes only. More information about the makers of these machines can be found in the credits section.

All these compact scooters have great efficiency, affordable buying prices and modern design. Do you think that they can still remain viable commuting vehicles in the nearest future?

I bought a used Aprilia SR50 Ditech 2 Stroke that had been 'derestricted' prior to being damaged. Paid $800 and it was incredibly fast and it got around 100 MPG due to the Electronic Fuel Injection. I was well over 200lbs and it would leave SUV's at the light every time. Italian made.

I can't believe they are saying budget to a 2000 dolar vespa

You left out the most important one, at least for enthusiasts. The Genuine Roughhouse 50. It has a 50cc carbureted 2 stroke Minarelli engine that can be modified as far as you can afford to go. Big bore kits, larger carburetors, expansion chamber exhausts, CDIs with no rev limiter, CVT tuning parts, the sky's the limit. I already have a highly modified 2004 Yamaha Zuma 2 stroke (also with a Minarelli engine) so I am not interested in the newer stuff. Full sized adults, before buying any one of these, check the load capacity. Some of them, like the Yamaha Vino and the Honda Ruckus, are well below the weight of a full sized adult. Look for a minimum 300 pound load capacity. You want a safety margin.
  • Love the Honda Ruckus. Looks bad ass, easy to inspect and maintain. Lots of accessories for it.
  • I can see myself buying one of these. Nice design I want a scooter that travels at least 45 mph.

I'll stick with my Honda Elite. Great economy and power to get around traffic when needed.
  • Nice some might be good with reinforcement and knobby tires in a rally or off-road tour

In India same Vespa with 125 cc engine will cost around $1800 only 🙄
  • The primavera has a round head light the sprint, not spring has a squarish head light.

"Derestricted" (Florida), my "Genuine" "Buddy 50" shows 45 mph on the speedo, and is a BLAST!!!! to ride in town at full throttle!
