  • I did Xifaxan for two weeks and it did nothing. Two months later, I did round of Xifaxan and metronidazole which completely destroyed my gut. I have looked into antimicrobials, but the problem is you can talk to 10 people and get 10 different answers on what to take, how much to take and how long to take it. It’s so frustrating to try to get help with IMO these days as most doctors don’t even have a clue what it is. they all go by the same playbook, oh, you have Sibo take this antibiotic. Oh the antibiotics didn’t work, take more antibiotics. Oh it completely destroyed your gut, try another round of antibiotics. The state of gastroenterology in this country is ridiculous! they just want your money and could care less if they actually help you.

My functional medicine practitioner immediately put me on a regimen of probably close to a dozen supplements for various issues, including ones after I tested positive for SIBO. I kept it up for a short time but eventually became overwhelmed with having to take so many pills a day and I gave up. I also have spina bifida which I’m pretty sure affects motility and I don’t think that was ever factored into a treatment plan.
  • Great video…thank you! 😇. I have definitely made ALL of the mistakes you speak of 🤦🏽‍♀️. My biggest mistake, out of desperation to get well, is buying a ton of supplements to take at once as opposed to slowly introducing new ones. I’m going to do better but it’s so frustrating! Especially since the doctors are basically clueless these days and just want to over prescribe antibiotics…. which is how I ended up with SIBO in the first place! 😩

I made the mistake of doing a lot of self diagnosis before finding a sibo trained practicioner
  • @Shaneka_Kay
Very helpful video! Thank you for posting. I’m really grateful you spoke about the importance of getting retested after treatment and taking a prokinetic after treatment. Recently been diagnosed with the methane form of sibo and will be starting refixamin/neomycin soon. I’m so grateful to finally get some answers for my gut issues.
  • My mistake is the trying too many things at once. Got Dr. Davis's book the Super Gut and have been trying his yogurt which MAY be too much for me. I have a long frustrating history and have had SAD advice and treatment form western trained gastroenterologists. But at my OWN insistentce and perseverance got a SIBO breath test that confirmed my Hydrogen based SIBO. Just finished my 14 days of Rifaxin and feel like I am slowly sliding backwards again! On no! But I am determined to figure this out. Will definitely be following you.
  • I don’t mind doing the diet however, I’m not doing the test I live in British Columbia Canada on Vancouver Island. To get a doctor here to get an appointment I have to stand in line for hours just to get an appointment. Then I have to come back for that appointment Either that day or the next day and I have to drive 10 km to get to that appointment and stand in line and wait and I’m not doing that. Over the last 20 years I’ve been diagnosed with IBS and I’ve also had stomach ulcers that I got rid of with antibiotics 20 years ago. I’m eating properly now. Cut out every kind of junk food there is quit drinking now I’m working on the diet. If you can help me with the diet I am underway. I have not been taking an enzyme digestive so I will start that. I’ve been taking probiotics. I had a rash all over my body is why I started this.
  • Thank you for this information you are more than wonderful my question is what are the ways or means to increase movement and speed is it a supplement or an action or an antibiotic I like you thank you
  • @cirelo1896
I was breastfeeding and the pro kinetics were not recommended. So I skipped it.
  • Hi, I just recently got diagnosed and my doctor recommended more natural treatments first before going to antibiotics. I’m really worried I wouldn’t even be able to afford antibiotic treatment if that’s what I truly need to get better. My insurance is horrible state insurance and I know that it’s super hard to get it covered even with good insurance. In your opinion, do you think natural supplements work as well (berberine, garlic, and oregano)? I am super desperate to fix this and will try and cough up the money if absolutely necessary but I’m trying all my other options before going the antibiotic route.

Hey Amanda, thank you so much for your wonderful info. Should someone still take a prokinetic If they have SIBO without bloating or constipation? It’s just loose stool and weight loss… thank you 😊
  • @emilymaxwell2517
What is the exact name of the prokinetics you recommend ? Im going to be starting my antibiotic treatment soon :)
  • @fzrms7954
Im so frustrated. Been dealing with sibo and dysbiosis or 5 years and tried everything. I finally went to 2 different functional med drs, one who specializes in sibo and even she only prescribed rifaximin with PHGG, enzymes, and biofilm disrupters. But no dr wants to give me a second antibiotic like Neomyocin to go with the Rifaxamin. I wonder if thats why I havent got better. Im broke from all the herbs and $200 a hour drs visits and testing. 😔😔
  • Thank you for this video! My Sibo came back after a year. I was treated last July with two rounds of Xyfaxin. I am currently taking another round of Xyfaxin. I would like to take a gut motility agent but need an idea of how/when to take it and for how long. Any suggestions?
  • @MM-es9dc
Hi, thanks a lot for your video. I have just started an antibiotic course. But I am unsure about what to eat while on the antibiotics. I am following a low fodmap diet for a while now. But I have read that while on antibiotics you should eat foods that are high on fodmap so you can keep the bacteria “happy” and then kill them off with the antibiotics. Hope to hear your opinion on that. Thanks a lot
  • @faisal-ca
I had a breath and comprehensive stool test. I am border line Methene SIBO. My health practitioner says I am not a candidate for anti biotics. We have started with Berberine and Allicin for next 4 weeks. I also take Artichoke and Ginger in capsule form. Liquid form is too hard on the system.
  • @viktorandre8545
Hi,I wonder if HCL with pepsin in combination with a potent pancreatic enzymes could be considered a prokinetic?? Promoting HCL in the gut should speed up gut motility ...
