Love my 243. Still have 3 boxes of 70 gr SXSP. One priced at 10.50. Boy not anymore..

For me it’s the 22 Creedmoor with that 80gr ELDX. Or my custom load with a 60gr vmax. Out of my Horizon Vandel x 👍 good show guys.

204 Ruger with 40gr Vmax all day and night. Fairly certain Mr. Emery would agree, that cartridge along with 17 HMR really launched Hornady forward from manufacturing everyone else's designs into becoming the leaders in 21 century bullet and ammo design. Cant wait to build a 22 ARC, keep up the great work guys.

Seth thanks for bringing your boys to our tournament. It was great to meet you. 1. My go to predator/varmint round 22-250 50 or 55 grain vmax 2. I do use .223 in multiple platforms 3. My most accurate handload probably by accident in my sons rifle is .243 with 65 grain vmax over superformance powder. Happened upon it because when components were hard to come by it was what I had and it is awesome on dogs and yotes. 4. Not my favorite but its nasty, I have used 110 vmax in .270 Winchester 5. I also happened upon some 100 grain 7mm hornady hollow points which you no longer make. I jacked around and handloaded some in 7mm-08 and put 5 of 5 on steel 4×6 plate at 400 yards with a simple 9 power scope at our practice range just letting off stem after district wrestling. Thanks for the content, looking for a new rig can't decide between 22 or 6mm creed or ARC I keep going back and forth.

220 Swift is still the King! I have shot this caliber for 45 years and have tried a lot of bullets in that time. My all time favorite is the Sierra 55 gr HPBT (#1390). That being said I also shoot the following depending on conditions: 17 REM with the 25gr Hornady HP (luckily have more than enough of this bullet to last me a very long time since you guys quit making it) 222 REM with the Barnes 36 gr VG. I really like your 50 gr SPSX but if you push them hard they will come apart on you. 243 Win with the Barnes 80gr TTSX. This caliber I use for deer and antelope but it is hell in the totes as well. So, I shoot several depending on the hunting/calling situation but more often than not I am reaching for the Mighty Swift!

When are you going to update the reloading app with the eld vt bullets and the new cartridges?
  • @jjgriffin3275
as said depends on location, scenerio. 17 HMR 223 6 ARC

Back in the day a .243 in an H&R Handy Rifle with 55 grain Winchester Ballistic Silvertips at 4000fps was a coyote SLAMMER!
  • @SavageMcBeastdog
Thanks for the episode. I will run the 58 grain vmax in the .243 ftw.
  • @claytonkline4905
For years I have used the 22-250/220 swift with 55gr. SP w/c. The SP w/c work will with the 223 as well.

You guys do a great job with this podcast. I have not used it but on paper a 22 ARC seems ideal to me!
  • @vernehambone3590
6.5 Creedmoor is super nice for a deer rifle in coyote country too. 127 LRX at 2800 is a winner for both.
  • @ajheath5123
Whatever is in the truck when I get the opportunity, is always the perfect coyote cartridge. One time it was a 17 Hornet and another time it was a 338 Lapua magnum. The real difference was the amount of cleanup afterwards..😮
  • My introduction to the Hornady Vmax was in 1995 i think.🤔 It was close to the release of the .17HMR. I bought a Marlin Model 917 and a couple cases of the Vmax, it was the only .17HMR on the market. I still have some of those original Vmax loads.👍

110gr 308 is a honorable mention. Just so many long range setups still out there that have dropped tons of yotes with that setup before the 6.5 craze even began.

Good podcast. A little brand specific, but to be expected. 220 swift and 25-06 are two of my fav varmint cartridges. But the only coyote Ive shot was deer hunting with a muzzleloader at 75 yards offhand walking to a stand. Needless to say, DRT.

Hey Seth, come to New Zealand & go hunting all year round for whatever you fancy - apart from Wapiti, which I think is on a ballot system once a year. We have Red deer/Fallow deer/Rusa deer/Sika deer/goats/Chamois/Thar/rabbits/possums/pigs, & probably some I forget about. Oh yes, game birds as well!

I'm going with 6 ARC this year. Handloading 90 grain ELD X. Getting 2900 fps from a 24 inch barrel in my AR. Work that load up for deer season. Stuck with it for coyotes because here in southeast Oklahoma we have a lot of pigs. Just like coyotes, pigs are always in season.
