I'm 71 and remember this well from my childhood and have made it many times. We always called it American Goulash. Grandma always made it, and added a small spoonful of sugar. Love it, and it's what I really call a comfort food.
  • I love this lady! I feel like I'm hanging out with her in her kitchen. Lol. I think about her when I'm cooking. :)

I’m 81 years old and I’ve never rinsed my hamburger. Just proves you’re never too old to learn! Thanks!

I grew up eating this my entire childhood. Mama called it goulash and she always added onion and I think maybe green or red or yellow pepper but I can't remember for sure. What I do remember is that it was divinely delicious.

I’ve always cooked my hamburger in water. My stepmom told me this trick a long time ago. It gets rid of all the grease , we’ve never noticed any loss of flavor.

Bring on the cooler temps and all the comfort meals.

My mom use to make this with out the beans. She called it goulash. I love the flavor of the roasted tomatoes in anything. They flavor it so well.

I really love how you’ve laid out your kitchen. I also really love your videos AND your recipes. (AND,as a Louisiana boy that decided to retire in New Mexico, ya’lls accent is like beautiful music to me)

This is Betty! Great job! And, yes, the reason for all the liquids is the pasta cooks in the pan. And it is delicious the next day. The sour cream mellows everything out. Just trying to lend a hand so you don't have to work quite so hard. Tammy, you and Chris have been told countless times what you both mean to folks out here so never forget. Hope everyone makes it their own and enjoys!

I make something similar. Mother called it Goulash. Easy peezy. I used to make it a lot when all the kids were little, and actually I made it about two weeks ago for Jerry and me. He loves corn with it and I put some grated cheese on top. It’s one of my favorite easy night dinners.I love the idea of using the fire roasted tomatoes. I usually use tomato sauce. 🌹

That Chili Mac looks so yummy! I hope to try it over the weekend! Thank you for sharing 😊

That’s one of my favorites I made it ever since I was in school. The lunch lady’s made this in the fall for us … so good with garlic bread yummy
  • @LB-vl3qn
This is a pretty common family meal down here in Texas, except we add corn and subtract the beans. And, of course, we put cheese on top because Texas. Cornbread rounds out the meal. You look great, btw. Keep on doing what works for you! ~ Lisa

I will try this, my mom made it but I have been cooking 60 years and have never made chili Mac. Thanks for sharing.

  • I just found your videos not long ago... I love them!! You seem so down to 🌎 Earth... from Mississippi ❤️
  • @mrfatty
All you need is a couple grilled cheese to go with it. Mmmm I miss my mom's cooking.
  • This looks very good, and I have run across many of similar recipes to this but have never tried any of them. You would think that since this recipe is kid-friendly, the school cafeterias would be serving it, but they don't. Also, I wanted to mention that I love your rooster box, the one with roosters on three compartments sitting on your counter. I have a number of rooster items in my kitchen as well, but not that one.
