This work is a literary masterpiece written under utter stress and bondage.

Injustice anywhere Is a threat to justice everywhere
  • 60 years later and his words still ring true, "there are two types of laws, just & unjust".

"Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection."

He was so sincere. Who could read or hear his desire for a better world, and not be changed?

Too many only know his "Dream" speech, I've always felt this showed better the road to that dream.

My high school students thank you for posting this! This is the first time I've actually heard Dr. King read his own letter!

I believe it was for a college English class I was taking that we were assigned to read this letter. I had procrastinated the assignment and was going to skim through it before class so I’d have something to share. But as I started reading it, I couldn’t stop. I read it in its entirety and was late to class. This is still one of the most powerful and influential princes of literature, outside of scripture that I have ever read. Truly Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of God, a man of country, of man of his people and ALL people. He uses historical, biblical, constitutional, ethical, moral reasoning to peacefully persuade the the clergymen of the south that the time for action is always now against unjust laws of any kind. He taught peace, love, true equality, determination and persistence. He will always be one of my greatest hero’s! I wish more people really knew what he stood for. Thank you reverend King for you impact on the world!
  • I need to listen to this 10 times and then read the letter just as much to soak it all in. How can one man be so brilliant! I don't think there'll ever be another MLK. Genius and profound man!

I love his voice. The letter is amazing and his voice is like a lullaby

Wow! This letter is still a powerful testament for the need for creative extremism and the fight for justice everywhere.
  • I never heard this letter until this past Wednesday night at SKYPAC. I have been listening to it every since. I am 60 years old and it's never too late to begin again in your thinking.

What a great way to celebrate MLK Day by reading or listening to this masterpiece every year and applying its truths to daily life!
  • I listen to this every year on this day and it’s like I’m hearing it for the first time.

I had to read this for university, but I find myself coming back here a lot.

24:27 is the “white moderate” section. Shocking how relevant this still is, over fifty years later.
  • Dear Lord, I thank you for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 🍃🙏🏾 A Country is not just what it does ~ It's also what it tolerates.

This man…THIS man…killed at 39 years old. A gain, and a loss. He had to work hard, because he never knew when his flame would be extinguished.
