Sea Otter tests: Invert gravel fork, Trek CarBack, Felt Breed Carbon, L-Twoo, and much more!

Published 2024-04-23
After capturing a big batch of gear on the first day, I return for another pass at Sea Otter Classic to test ride a few things - L-Twoo’s remarkably inexpensive new groupset, Cane Creek’s Invert gravel fork - and to meander through the massive expo to see what I missed on day one.

I also share some thoughts on two products I have been using for a few days in California - the Felt Breed Carbon gravel bike and Trek's new CarBack radar that goes head to head with the Garmin Varia.

    Microshift groups looking good!
  • It’s not the first time”gravel” fork. The Lefty has been out for years and is a full fledged suspension fork with damper.

Not a lot of reviews on the MicroShift Sword group. Would love to see more on this if you are up to it Ben. Love the Pinion bike. I'll take a Lauf Fork over a $1200 airspring without damping.

This event was nuts. Couldn’t find Hunt or Cane Creek and I feel like I saw everything. So many Nooks & Crannies. Great coverage Ben, as usual.
  • @casparwhittey
Great job finding some interesting stuff! Very integrated in that longer term fork review when you get it. Also cool to see Microshift in the update

Thank you for taking time to make this content. I appreciate it ❤

Ha! That is me speaking with the Sava guy as you're filming the Dream Maker bike. I felt you shooting the bike, but I never looked up to see who it was. I wish I did. I definitely would've said hi. Big fan of the Channel!

New Felt VRS just dropped. New Felt FRs also. That yellow breed looks amazing. Cant wait for your thoughts on it!!!
  • @glassacre
Man, that Scarab bike is breathtaking. Such a great paint job. I'm curious how that Cane Creek fork would compare to something like the Redshift suspension stem (as far as dampening goes). I personally have never found a need for dampening on my gravel bike, but maybe I just haven't found the chunkiest gravel in the Front Range yet? 😁
  • That saddle is INSANE! Try it sir! You seem to be a legit opinion on saddle since you pedal so much and got exp. Although I assume you have titanium grade resistance in the area by now
  • @estelja
I can't see how that Infinity saddle could possibly be comfortable. Was it funded by the Preparation H parent company?

The Industry Nine Solix AR 40 wheels are sweet. 25mm internal and 35 external, 40mm deep.

Should have covered more of the Van Rysel Spot. Good trip by Portugal, do not eat too much here, or, you might never want to leave 🤣

Would love to hear your ride review of the felt breed carbon 😊

Since Lael Wilcox won dirty Kansa on a drop bar mtb, I’d say the “gravel” suspension fork is a regular suspension fork 🙄
