Saying to a fire "burn and piss off will ya"... so Australian!

Thanks ABC for having the ticker to leave the comments on.

Literally hell. The bravery of these fire fighters can never be overstated. Remarkable. Devastating. Terrifying.
  • To those who lost their lives including the 3 Americans who volunteered to help fight these fires and all the animals that died rest in peace...
  • Rest In Peace - Robert (father - left behind his wife) and Patrick (son who left behind a wife & baby son) SALWAY of the historic town of Cobargo on the NSW South Coast that both died fighting the 31st Dec 2019 - fire close to their homes.

The father and daughter who defended their home are badasses! These people are so brave!

Again another example of the Australian spirit - at 6:30 the guy that had been interviewed earlier in the program offered to get out of the car to make space for the 93 year old. Great bravery given the conditions outside of that car.
  • The bravery of fire fighters astounds me, add to that, volunteer, WOW, hats off to you all & thank you.

It’s been two years until I could watch this. The stories of the animals suffering gave me visceral reactions and I couldn’t stomach hearing the stories.

Brilliantly captured and edited stories. Such an intense time. To the young lady that defended her home with a burnt hose, the word bravery doesn't begin to cut it.

I am also the Deputy Captain of the Nymboida RFS brigade. This wasnt mentioned on the program. I was prepared and had all the equipment but when my Captain called me and said the RFS were pulling out because it had gone bad and we had a ten minute window to get out..... we took it. There was no way to know that the wind would pick up to 80kph and that window was gone.
  • How can people thumbs down this? Greatest respect to firefighters and paramedics.
  • I've been binge-watching the "Four Corners" series and, as an American, let me say how impressed I am. Australians are lucky in many ways; add this program to the list.

Australia will do what they must. Pull together in the worst of times. My heart is with you from Northern California USA. ❤

Four Corners excels yet again. To devote an edition of the program to personal stories of the fires, accompanied by personal videos, is style and substance in equal measure. No reporter, no narration of copy, just first hand experience and a little newsreading to stitch it all together.

"Don't go into a room you can't get out of." Very true. A lot of people who died in the Black Saturday bushfires sheltered in bathrooms.

I'm so happy my fellow colleagues from Alberta were able to come and help out. Just like how the Aussies came here to help us in our bad fire seasons

I watched this program the other day on iview. Every firefighter who fought these blazes is a legend in my opinion. Who ever is responsible for making this program did an outstanding job of capturing the terrible circumstances of this horrible event.
