When I began teaching, I'd choose a theme song each fall to hype myself up for the year. As a school leader, I started creating mix tapes to capture the essence of each school year from August to June, with each track reflecting the month’s progression. The song meanings vary—sometimes it’s the rhythm, a lyric, or the season’s mood.

Regardless of the specific songs, these mix tapes inspire and motivate me. This activity has proven invaluable in framing the school year. I encourage you to do the same; there’s no right or wrong choice—just find the music that centers and inspires you!
