The eagle is soaring high and the red, white and blue is flowin' as I present this tribute to an airline I grew up with. Although some of the older aircraft I love so much like the DC10s, Fokker 100s and Boeing 727s are long gone, this airline is still flying awesome airliners and continues to be a favorite of mine for nostalgic reasons. This video features video clips from Chicago O'Hare Airport exclusively. These clips were taken 2012-2014. Because at this time AA has not started to fly the Airbus airliners or Boeing 777-300ER variants to Chicago, this video includes only pre-merger (non-US Airways) airliners.

American Airlines was founded in 1930 and began operations in 1934. American Airlines AAL/AA has hubs at Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport, New York Kennedy International Airport KJFK / JFK, Los Angeles International Airport KLAX / LAX, Miami International Airport KMIA / MIA and Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The airport lounge is called the "Admirals Club", the frequent-flyer program is AAdvantage and it belongs to the Oneworld Airline Alliance. The website is www.aa.com

The 767-223ERs were recently retired and it will always be a regret of mine that I never was able to film one in AA colors and that there are not enough videos of them on YouTube. Also, yes, as of now I have no videos of the newer OneWorld livery but I hope to soon change that.

They have 600+ aircraft with 270+ destinations excluding the US Airways ones. Envoy (American Eagle), SkyWest Airlines, and ExpressJet Airlines operate regionally for AAL. Chautauqua still flies American Connection flights into and out of O'Hare occasionally.

This airline has some of my favorite slogans:

    Another great vid, Jay!  Personally I love the new AA livery!  I know that AA has long ditched flying 747's. But on my first trip to Hawaii back in Aug. 1981, I flew on an American Airlines 747 jumbo jet originating in NYC Kennedy, a stop over at LAX, and then onto Honolulu Intl. Yes, and back then they actually fed us full meals on both legs of the trip.  Somewhere in an old scrap book of photos I took that summer on my trip I took a picture of our AA Boeing 747 at the gate before our departure back to the mainland.  Thanks for sharing this awesome vid!

    Haven't had any time to watch everything yet, but I already love it ! I do love their paint but I've only had best experiences on AA . On one flight from MIA to LHR the electronics were totally messed up and when I boarded the aircraft my seat was literally missing !!! They eventually brought a seat in from the terminal but I was speechless at that moment ... The flight was very rough with a lot of turbulence (which of course isn't their fault ) but luckily they have new equipment on board now so I'm thinking about flying with AA in the future and give it one more try ;-)

    Absolutely stunning footage. I miss the old AA livery so much. I remember seeing the triple seven silverbird landing at O'Hare and being amazed at the main gear. Thank you wholeheartedly for sharing this memory.

    Great vid!  I too have a soft spot for American.  I love the bare aluminium look of the old livery, but I really like the new design as well.  That cross-wind 767 landing at about 20:00 was pretty hairy!
