My videos are for entertainment purposes only. I am still relatively new to woodturning and some of my techniques might not be the "best" or safest. When using any tools or machinery always read and understand safety/manufacturers guidelines.
Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practise. The gloves I wear are tight fitting and donβt have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. DO NOT do anything you donβt feel comfortable doing.

I'm amazed you could find such a perfect pumpkin! It was almost perfectly circular with the stem almost perfectly centered. That alone deserves a like.
-
Lol. Cool but who else was expecting something more "detailed," in art? The title says "Extreme Pumpkin Carving," so........ yeah.
-
If you cut pieces from another pumpkin and added them as eyes, mouth, and nose it could be an inverted pumpkin were the head lights up showing the face features better. I would like to see that!
-
Amazing that it just didn't explode into chunks on the lathe. Very impressive. I imagine that you probably had a number of false starts before you perfected your technique.

Customer: I'm trying to figure out if this 80 grit would work on my project? Employee: What are you using in on? Customer: A pumpkin...
-
You brought out the 80 grit sandpaper and I absolutely lost it!

Very cool! Just a small suggestion - if you cut the hole in the bottom of the pumpkin instead of the top you can still remove the seeds the same but you can then use the stump to pick the whole pumpkin up to light the candle. The top also wonβt shrivel up and fall inside the pumpkin. Thank you. I really enjoyed watching this.

Second I saw it was a pumpkin I had to see. I used to professionally carve pumpkins on Halloween.. I haven't planted any for about 3yrs been meaning too. Just love watching a fellow artist at work. I don't do woodcarving i do landscape and animal art. I'd try wood turning but I fear id loose a finger of two.

So we're just gonna ignore the fact he left our boi with a bowl cut? πππ»π

Orangeheart, unlike itβs extremely hard relative Purple Heart, it is an undeniably soft wood π€£

Never thought a lathe should be used on pumpkins. So clever.
-
Wow, that looks like quite a messy affair in the workshop. Really neat idea.
