  • Just used packing cubes for the first time over a three month period. My wife thought it was a waste of money. So I divided my warm and cold weather clothes, the cold went into the compression cubes. It was easy to locate clothes for daily usage, often it was not necessary to open my checked bag. Great trip and will always be using cubes in the future. PS...My wife wants a set now.

If you're not willing to pay for compression cubes, 2-gallon zip lock bags are also a great option. Good for dirty or wet clothes. Use gallon size ones for undies and socks etc

Bought different colored packing cubes for each person in my daughter's family last Christmas, planning for an Alaskan cruise. She started using them for weekend road trips...each person packs a cube and they all go together in one suitcase. Easy to find each individual person 's stuff. Bought compression cubes for myself earlier this year to go along with my regular cubes. What a neat suitcase! Just have to be careful of the weigh because I can fit in so much.
  • Packing Cubes rule!!! I love using them on every trip I take. They are a game changer
  • I’ve been using packing cubes for about 10 years now and it’s been a total game changer. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere without them.

I do most of the things in this video depending on the circumstances. The biggest problem I have with packing cubes and vacuum bags is keeping the weight in limits if I'm checking a bag. With carry on bags the restriction is size more than weight. In either case i like a vacuum bag for dirty clothes, you don't have to worry so much about folding/rolling them and there's no odor/soil contamination. One other trick for souvenirs is to pack and ship them home. I'll actually use some of our dirty clothes as packing to protect the fragile stuff. We have found that shipping is a third to half as expensive as overweight fees or extra checked bag fees. Not sure how well that would work traveling abroad but in the states it is a great hack.
  • Never packing without compression cubes again! Thanks for packing with Tripped, Megan!
  • @magietagie
I have been using packing cubes since they came out! Just love them! One big benefit I recently found was when my suitcase broke (came apart while being handled by the airline) was because everything was in packing cubes, nothing was lost. They bagged up everything including the suitcase and nothing was missing. The only damaged was a pair of shoes that was NOT in a packing cube.

Lol had to watch twice cause I got distracted by the cute doggo 😂 he looked like he just watched a magic trick!

I’ve been using packing cubes for several years now. I can’t imagine packing without them! Loved the Tripped brand too. Their cosmetic bag is a real game changer!
  • @howcotube
I think my next trip I will certainly change the way I pack thanks to you Megan. I also saved to my wish list on Amazon the cubes you suggested and I really feel packing is now an art and I understand it, again thanks to you !!! Love your ideas and you make a fine teacher with the skills you have for travel. Much appreciated !!!!

This video was so informative, I wish it was out when I was researching compression cubes a couple of years ago. I love compression cubes! I’m going to watch your video on the army roll now, I’m excited!
  • @birbluv9595
I have never seen compression packaging cubes before. Very cool! And a nicely done video. My problem, for longer overseas trips, has always been being under the 50-pound weight limit, at least on the return flights. Souvenirs, you know!
  • @JennyLee57
I use both types of cubes, along with the waterproof bag you showed to house my neck pillow. I love that I don't have to put my clothes directly in the dresser drawers. I just pull out my cubes and place them in. So much easier!
  • @littlesongbird1
I love compression cubes and packing cubes. I fly a lot with Spirit so I only take a person sized item and these are a game changer.
  • You are the Best on Travel Tips. I've been doing the Army Roll since my Drill Sargent taught Me in 1967 ....😃

Love that impression on your dog after you folded your shirt. Thanks for the advice. Great video
  • @LE-cw4br
I use compression packing cubes. One thing i do find is that depending on the items i pack, the compression cube is thicker in the middle and thinner on the edges. I adjust it by rolling smaller items and placing them closer to the zippered edge. So when I compress the cube, it will be a lot more uniformly flat and not bulge in the middle...if that makes sense. I have brought just a carry on and a personal item with me for a 14 day trip using compression cubes. (FYI, I had to pack a suit jacket, trousers, skirt, 3 blouses, and dress shoes for my work. And then the casual stuff for my off time.) My colleague was impressed at how much I could get in my carry on! (Thanks, Megan for suggesting the Kon Mari method and army method of 'folding'. I will try that next trip!) Love your content!

I love your dog was watching so closely as you were folding - cute!
