This is just a silly video! 😘

I love Sweden so much, so I decided to make a redemption video talking about 10 things I learned AND LOVED since moving here. There are many cultural differences between the USA and Sweden, so this video is dedicated to 10 things that I experienced for the first time in Sweden and really appreciated.

I understand that not everything in this list is exclusive to Sweden (such as the taxes being in the prices), but Sweden is where I experienced these differences firsthand, and therefore, I associate these experiences with Swedish culture.

I hope you enjoy this list!

1. Bank ID - an electronic verification system
2. Cheap, delicious coffee! Thank goodness, since I love Fika.
3. Taxes are in the prices
4. Filing taxes. Yes, it's true! Filing taxes in Sweden is so easy, especially using BankID ;)
5. Cool stuff: swedish dish cloths, chip clips, plastic bread clips, laundry room dryer, etc
6. Outdoor gyms. They're free and people actually use them!
7. Queues
8. Stroller ramps on staircases, also used for wheel chairs.
9. Berry picking! Blueberries, blackberries, lingonberries... The bÀrplockare made it easy to pick berries. Raspberries had maggots and weren't as fun to pick...
10. Fredagsmys! Instead of going out and partying, you stay inside and cozy up with family and friends.

PĂ„ svenska

Det hĂ€r Ă€r bara en fĂ„nig video! 😘

1. Bank-ID - ett elektroniskt verifieringssystem
2. Billigt, gott kaffe! Tack och lov, eftersom jag Àlskar Fika.
3. Skatter Àr i priserna
4. Registrera skatter. Ja det Àr sant! Att skicka in skatter i Sverige Àr sÄ enkelt, sÀrskilt med BankID;)
5. HÀftiga saker: svenska disktrasor, flisklÀmmor, brödklÀmmor i plast, tvÀttstuga, etc.
6. Utomhus gym.

One day you will understand the true power of shoehorns and when that day comes you cannot live without them.

”No queue. Should I still take a queue tag?” Might be the truest meme about Sweden I’ve seen so far.
  • You're slowly turning into a true Swede. Feel the power of "lingonsylt" and "lagom" flow through your veins. One of us, one of us!
  • @sasdafir
You know you've truly embraced Sweden and Swedishness when there's a Moccamaster in the kitchen

I’m a Swede but I live in England now and you have no idea how much I miss Bank-Id and swish!! Swish is so easy and I dont understand why they don’t have it here!

You just dont know you like shoehorns yet. But one day you'll find yourself at a place without one and think "why isnt there a shoehorn here?!"

Most swedish cities have good tap water, it's the foundation for nice coffie.

You should not have to apologize because a couple few misunderstood your statements. Some people are just sad and like to hear what they want in order to confirm their negative world view. Keep it up! Much love from south of Sweden.

Regarding filing taxes: some 20 years or so ago, Skatteverket (the Swedish tax office) decided to try an approach they had not had previously. They tried making it easy to fill out the forms! In those days everything was on paper, and they made it easy to fill out the forms, even for the more advanced things like profits from the stock market and selling real estate. And lo and behold: people did "the right thing", and actually payed taxes! Since then filling in the forms, whether they are on paper on electronic, has been easy, with a lot of the numbers already filled in. If everything the tax office has been told by your employer and bank is correct, all you have to do is sign the paper (or electronic form) and send it in.

Only a true troll will try to make your vlogs about "hating" Sweden! As a swede, I truly feel you love most things here. Great vlogs, thank you!

The best thing about shoehorns is that they also protect the back of the shoe when putting it on. They maintain the shape of the shoe which makes them last longer 🙂

Me and my family are recent expats from the US to Stockholm. Videos like this are really great for me to see because moving to a new country is such a weird thing. Thank you for that. Also, your editing is great. Keep it up!
  • My late sister Nancy lived in Sweden for 6 years and remembering her is why I am here! I only visited in summer and would love to visit in December during the Christmas season! My dream trip to Sweden would be to spend time again in Stockholm, explore the big lakes, then go down the western coast and then up the eastern coast back to Stockholm! This was a wonderful video, thank you!!!!

Funny thing about the coffee in sweden is that your favorite brand might not taste the same in different regions of sweden all because of different minerals in the water depending on the region ;)
  • @Morhua1
I like your style! It's fun and not bland. Keep doing your mini rants on things like glorious shoehorns. I can clearly tell it's coming from a place of love for the place that you now live. Let's not take thing too serious people. Also your editing skills are legit!
  • @MarcusTSMarcus
Your videos are always an interesting view on Swedish society from an outside perspective. I think it could do everyone some good to get an outside opinion on one’s own society.
  • @norrbysa
Raspberry-maggots are harmless and taste like raspberries too. â˜ș You can make them leave the berries by storing them in your fridge with plastic wrap on the bowl over night. The day after you can pour out the berries on a tray and pick them away.
  • @satanihelvetet
It's so nice to hear your positive attitude and you make us swedes understanding the good things about our country better, because most of us hasn't experienced how it's working in many other countries.
