STOP Trying To Get Rid of ANXIETY (That's Why You're Anxious)

Published 2023-04-09
During the time when I went through severe anxiety I used to research and try every technique and method I could find to get rid of my anxiety. But it turns out...that was the problem.
In this video I’m going to explain why your efforts to get rid of anxiety are in fact the reason why you’re still so anxious.

I’m Tim Box. I’m a mind coach and for more than a decade now I’ve been working with people to help them overcome all sorts of emotional and psychological issues, and in particular helping them get control of anxiety.

You are doing important work Tim, God bless you. Im 41 my childhood was complete mess, ive been in therapy since i was 16. I still need to use medication and i cant think that i can ever be free off them. I havent had sex life in 5 years, my wife doesnt want to talk about it. I get to hear that im good looking guy and women always flirt with me, i blame everything on myself, but i know that that is not the whole truth.
  • Your videos have helped me so much to realise I am not sick I am just anxious thank you

I 100% agree. Trying to get rid of it makes it worse and it narrows your focus on ‘controlling’ that emotion rather than focusing on ways to deliver a desirable outcome of something you’re anxious about (a talk, job interview, date, whatever). Still, it is a painful feeling though. But we shouldn’t get tricked into the natural tendency to fight this feeling.
  • Great to see you back Tim, hope you are well! Thank you for sharing, this is a timely reminder for me 🙏

Tim, you have absolutely amazing insight on the functions of the mind. You deserve a ton of recognition and I'm absolutely sure your channel will blow up if you keep at this. Maybe some simple shorts and Tik Tok content as well if I may be so bold in suggesting so. Wish you the best.

You’ve been so helpful. Are you scared you’ll get debilitating anxiety again? The anxious sensations I experience seem like they do stem from a fear of having anxiety, having to deal with it forever, or going insane because it gets so bad. I never really experienced high anxiety prior to this past December. That’s when I had a panic attack that seemed out of the blue. Looking back, I can see I had quite a few triggers: secondary infertility, new colleague at work, new responsibilities at work, mom to three young kids, stress at church, etc. Now I fear the return of anxiety and have had to deal with it since that time. I’ve been reading the Dare Response and listening to your advice. These things really do help me, but it does get discouraging for me having to keep working on this when i didn’t have to deal with high anxiety ever before.

Can you provide any information on how long you stayed in high state anxiety once you started adopting new techniques? I’ve found you fairly recently, and starting to adopt your techniques, but as you know, high level anxiety can be all encompassing and im trying to switch the mind to positive things

But Tim, what about people who are constantly feeling anxious due to genetics, hormal balances or otherwise? Especially in regards to GAD...do you have any tips on these situations?
