I lived on my boat for about 25 years, I call jet skies torpedoes. I see them wide open through anchorage’s where people are swimming off their boats and off the beaches. Many are utterly irresponsible.

Hats off to the dude that jumped in and saved him

It's always jet skiers.. They are 99% of the time clueless on what they are doing.

9 out of 10 jet ski operators dive as if they are the only ones on the water. Ive seen this too many times.

I am shocked its not a no wake zone to start with

I feel sorry for the boat owner / operator as he responded to the best of his ability to save the jetski operator. It must have been a mess. It was nice that the property owner had good cameras and video so the responsible party's insurance could pay for damage to the boat and compensate the boat operator for his effort.

So many Waverunner operators get wrapped in clowning around spinning in circles and making sharp turns they aren’t paying attention to other boat traffic or rules of the water. They can turn so quick that it’s very hard for other boats to avoid them.

The driver of the jet ski, Lex Logan Sammons, did in fact die in August 2021 from complications of his injuries, a bit less than 2 yrs later.

I have a boat and two PWC's. I've also been riding motorcycles for over 40 years. I drive all of them with my head on a swivel, constantly looking over my left and right shoulder checking my blind spots before making any kind of turns especially on busy lake days. That PWC rider was very irresponsible with that maneuver, I hope he ends up being ok.

What amazes me is the Jet Ski driver is coming towards the boat and had to see it, still loops around and cuts the boat off. For more stupidity just search YouTube for dash cam car accidents.

I have both a boat and a couple of wave runners. The wave runners are a blast to drive, but most get on them then proceed to shove their heads right up their asses. Gives the other operators on the waterways a lot of aggravation. One of my biggest fears is friends coming over and jumping on my wave runners and something like this happen\ing. I always try to coach them, but they are in control.

I am very cautious when I see jet skis, because most of the time it is young people doing dumb stuff. I pray the person does well and recovers fully.
  • @JGunit
Not sure speed would have helped that jet skiers eyesight
  • @davemiller9314
I Hate them wave runners and jet skies, They are constantly cutting in front and behind boats to jump waves, it's caused many accidents......

That looks like a canal where it should be idle or no wake period. Use your heads people.

Im getting pretty old and have been on the water since early childhood. This is the worst time in history for utter disregard for others, not only on the water, but in every activity I can think of. Compound the selfish behavior with the ignorance of many new boaters and its truly amazing that we don't see more tragedy! I along with many other folks hate to see more restrictions on our freedom to do what we enjoy without interference, however, l (especially in the last few years), Find myself increasingly questioning the wisdom of allowing people to engage in such a responsibility heavy activity as boating on the honor system of self education. Not only are so many ignorant of the laws on the water, they become immediately arrogant when you even very politely inform them of their responsibilities as the master of a vessel. And sadly, this behavior is not restricted to any particular type of vessel owner.

Jet skies and motorcycles can accelerate and maneuver quicker than many operators think. They don't realize or don't care that others have a hard time keeping track of their darting around while also watching other traffic. Jet skies can be worse because most boaters don't know the rules of the road or think because there are no lines to define boundaries that anything goes. This skier looked like he thought he was the only one out their and maybe everyone else needed to look out for him.

"I think a 25 mph would be sufficient." Neither vessel was going over 20!

My Wife and I spent 30 years exploring the rivers of Florida and Southern GA by canoe. It was a quiet and peaceful way to share our time together. We had to give it up after several "near misses" from Jet Ski's being operated by children. They had no limits and were oblivious to the deadly threat they posed to the rest of us. The "we have just as much right as you" attitude seems to prevail. My Wife is gone now and I'm too old to canoe these days. Too bad, really.
