These dovetail jewelry box projects are perfect woodworking gifts. They take very little material, they can be made quickly, they are pretty easy to construct, but they have a huge WOW factor when you give them to people. I used figured walnut for my jewelry box. It consists of a giant sliding dovetail joint that connects the lid to the base. Inside the jewelry box is a tray lined with felt. It’s a beautiful woodworking project. If you are interested in making a quick DIY gift, give this one a shot.

Love the box! Very interesting design and fairly straight forward to make if you have the right tools. I ended up making one to go with the necklace I got for my partner as a gift and got a lot of compliments.
  • Seeing something “new” in woodworking is pretty rare. You just showed a new thing in such a humble way. Big respect!

Beautifully done, great idea to batch out and give away as gifts, it's very unique aesthetic, not the same ole..same ole that I see on YouTube, well done bro
  • Awesome project.. thank for sharing! What I would add is small magnets at one end to keep it closed tight.

Great Video...and beautiful result. Maybe a recessed magnet might help secure the box from un-wanted sliding..

Hey there wanted to let you know i loved this video and found this while searching for inspiration for my self directed project at school made out of wood. I wanted to know if it would be okay if i could make this? If so, would you mind perhaps listing down how to make this or the measurements for each wooden cut and length, width, etc? Hopefully you see this in time so I don’t fall behind, thank you so so much :)!!
  • I make boxes with a sliding lid so this dovetail project looks quite interesting ! Been awhile since my router seen any action so I'm gonna make one out of pine and see if this might be my new way to making my boxes. What a clever idea Newton !
