Shabani's son Kiyomasa is now 10 years old.
In human years, he is between 15 and 18 years old, which is the age of puberty.
When his mother, Nene, notices that Kiyomasa is acting differently than before, she approaches him and shows her concern.
Although it is unlikely that Kiyomasa will ever mate with his older sister Ai or younger sister Annie, it may be time for him to have a flock of his own.

The boy gorilla is bored. This zoo needs to improve the gorilla enclosure and if they cannot afford it, find them a better home. The concrete is disgusting.

So sad to see them in captivity. I understand many are in captivity in order to save them due to extinction reasons or that they were domesticated as pets (both, thanks to us), but this enclosure they're in is so much like a prison. Couldn't they at least be given some trees and better greenery? What they have now is so depressing and they look it.😔

Its fascinating seeing how Kiyomasa loves playing with Annie and her reactions to his affections. Neene is a caring mum with her son even though he often wants to hit her. In a couple of years time Kiyomasa will want his own wife. Thank you for lovely footage of the Shabani family

Ive been to prison, and its scary to see how similar these gorillas behaviors resemble both myself and people i knew who had been inside for too long.

This is a horrible enclosure for gorillas, these animals have large territories to roam in the wild, that are very stimulating, these “zoos” with their concrete enclosures lack the stimulation these creatures need, which is why you see the weird behavior and pacing….
