Palestinian American journalist Rami Khouri responds to the latest exchange of fire between Israel and Hezbollah and the drawn-out ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, which Khouri calls a “fictitious political dynamic” that is primarily used as diplomatic cover for Israel’s warfare. “The ceasefire talks should not be taken very seriously as an effort to bring about a ceasefire,” he says. “It’s pretty clear now that the ceasefire negotiations today are the equivalent of the so-called peace process in the bigger Arab-Israeli conflict over the last 40 years.”

Well articulated statement that, “the US can’t supply the weapons to keep the war going, and yet try to be the mediator of “peace negotiations”!
  • This is horrible, because as an American I Do Not Agree with the help we sending. Israel needs stand on their own and answer for what they done.
  • @lbj-i1k
The US told Israel not to escalate the conflict, and they (Netanyahu) did it anyway... let Israel (Netanyahu) deal with the consequences, and keep the US, the UK, etc. out of it!!!.
  • Israel has shamed the whole humankind! Humankind has shamed itself for letting this to continue! Shame!!!!
  • I'm ashamed and embarrassed of my country for supporting this mess. - American veteran.
  • Notice everything Nasrallah said is political (antizionism) and aimed Not on civilians. Compare this with Israeli reactions and actions.

We need to pressure the Democratic Party to make a bold stance to withhold arms from Israel. This genocide will continue only as far as we, as a country, allow it
  • Israel has always used ‘Preemptive strike’ as its excuse for its progressive aggression over time to annex lands. Take 1967’s Six Day War, which was disputed in Miko Peled’s book ‘The General’s Son’. Every accusation from the terrorist state is a confession .
  • By the way, if IRAN is the one paying for DEFENDING THE MIDDLE EAST from israel, I would like to take this opportunity to THANK THEM FOR IT. The US, UK, and FRANCE have been PAYING for militias to attack civilians for CENTURIES while calling everyone else TERRORISTS.
  • Rami is so right about the colonial control and hypocrisy. It's time that the Arab world say no and force the west to listen and act in accordance.

The US keeps claiming progress has been made in talks for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, it keeps funding and arming Israel’s war machine against the people of Gaza, and it also helps Tel Aviv maintain and strengthen the all-out siege on the Palestinian territory. Now, alongside the everyday bombings, the weaponized starvation and the lack of medicine and necessities, Gazans face the threat of a Polio virus outbreak. With the international community incapable of taking any meaningful action.
  • Americans are supplying the fire and on the same time asking for ceasefire.😂😂
  • Asking for a ceasefire now is like trying to break up a dog fight in progress.
  • Isreal has to understand you can't make enemies bomb and humiliate all your neighbors forever... they won't always be weak and you are a small country...diplomacy is a thing can't all be force and war
