I think that Lego can justify the premium price due to the effort in designing the builds and various licensing fees. But if you're building a retired set, where Lego won't get any of the resale money, it makes sense to use 3rd party bricks.

As someone who has just recently got into LEGO and wants some of the older unaffordable sets, this vid was invaluable. Thank you 🙏! Subscribed!
  • Hopefully Lego will realize that alternatives are becoming a bigger threat and price their sets more competitively
  • @joedt1214
I'm glad that you are helping us average people build alternative sets that are more reasonably priced than the Lego extortionists. A lot of us can't afford sets that are over a hundred dollars much less two hundred dollars. Keep up the good work.
  • I love how candid you are about using alternative bricks. For so long it’s seemed like every lego fan/content creator has been so hush hush about even the possibility of going that route. I’ve been buying bootlego for years at this point and have yet to have any issues and it’s nice to see someone going out there publicly and validating that, yes, this is a thing, and yes, it’s cost effective. LEGO isn’t owed anything from us. If they want to make the prices too high, you’re allowed to take your business elsewhere.
  • Your my favorite Lego youtuber because you aren't a purist. I wish you could post more often. I watch your old videos all the time.

Love your channel!! I’m a new lego fan, on a budget and i had no idea i could have every lego list on their website!! I’m so happy i’ve come by your channel. Also very glad you’re not against other brands. I’ve just completed a Nifeliz kit from amazon and i loved it !
  • So glad I stumbled across this video. I have bought a lot of bulk to use for ball contraptions or finishing my son’s sets that he left when he moved out. If I plan to sell something, I would use 100% lego but for ball contraptions I could use anything! I have pulled out a lot of mega block and other brands in the past due color or plastic issues but sounds like this is a perfect replacement! Great video!

I just subscribed because of how much I loved this video! I’ve always wanted to go back and buy the modular buildings from my childhood that I missed out on but they were super expensive! Now I can buy them for reasonable prices!
  • Great work! I am a purist when it comes to Lego, but my method for "scratch building" sets is to take my inventory lists and go pick bricks out of the bulk at my local Bricks & Minifigs store. If I keep running into a rare part that is statistically not going to show up in the bulk pile I order off of Bricklink.
  • @eggybricks
Really thoughtful tips — and impressive production value as usual. Excited to try these out, we've always wished for a way to try retired builds without spending thousands of dollars. Thanks so much!
  • @knallkasten5159
im not even a lego builder myself i just love lego content and i think you might be one of the best addition to the community. beside your tipps your videos are on a very high quality level visual and audio wise. keep up the good work!
  • @marmaloot6350
As someone who is just now getting into Lego and wanting to build a city of my own this is awesome!
  • @JHK-sf9lk
Big thanks to your video I just saved tons on a lego set I really wanted to buy but was really pricy bc they dont produce them anymore. Your video was really helpful and easy to follow 😊
  • @Blackadder75
I don't mind alt brands for lego, the only thing I kinda regret is that it will get mixed up more and more in people's collections, and when I buy a second hand collection for parts I would prefer to have 100% lego or 100% alternative and not a mix. because not all copies are the same good quality as the Webricks seem to be
  • @PurpleBox89
Dude, I owe you a big thanks! I had no idea this was a thing. Great way to finally build old sets.
  • @ptboy4
Built the cafe corner without spending one cent. It's all made with simple bricks. Had everything in my collection and what I didn't have the correct colour I just swapped and it still looked amazing.
  • What a great video. I wasn't aware of we brick but see you learn something new every day. Thank you for your posting. So many possibilities now. Will definitely continue to watch your posts. Have a great day.
