A while ago I tried to destroy silicon with magnesium and oxygen, but it completely failed. Since then though I've upgraded my set up with an arc furnace!

“Melt it OR SOMETHING” What were you gonna do, cast alchemy on it?
  • @carsonkoehler
bro just casually buys a new unheard off machine to just melt silicon
  • @isi2973
I love how he is confused about the glitchy camera, while using a plasma to melt silicon. Neil is a chemist and knows enough about physics, to realize what is going on, but he was so mesmerized, that his brain did not brain right.

Yet another $100,000 machine to be use once and to never be seen again 😂
  • @ScenicFlyer4
And with that, Nigel was able to turn this expensive machine into a tax write-off

“I must destroy this” Nile is more powerful than the laws of conservation.

“Hey, Nile blue here and today we’re going to make a demon core”

What we were all expecting: "This is a piece of shiny silicon....and I kind of wonder what it tastes like"
  • @hkumar30
Nile: “Since then, I’ve upgraded the setup” shows up with a military-grade incinerator to blast a rock
  • I love nile because his channel is like what happens if you give a mad chemist a bunch of money to just do whatever wacky experiments he wants
  • I’m convinced that he buys small random things that don’t cost very much to justify extremely large completely unnecessary purchases of machines

That's what happens to my cpu when I open 5 Google tabs

The camera is doing that from the high current arc. It's emitting a ton of strong EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference). Which is messing with the camera's sensor. Quite a common issue for these types of environments. As the arc is in a sheilded conductive chamber, the EMI being emitted is mostly coming from the entire cable going to the electrode holder on top, the window in the chamber and possibly the arcs power source. The EMI will contain a lot of RF energy and AC magnetic fields from sub MHz to possibly as high as 100's of MHz. The cables inductiance will limit the upper frequencies, however the arc its self could be emitting significantly higher.

Is that a benchtop electric-arc furnace? Hopefully coming soon to a video near us?
  • Knowing EXACTLY how ***** hard it is to melt pure silicone, that machine is terrifying.

I feel like Nile is the closest thing we have to a real life mad scientist
