So, the the entire drive on I-15 is going to be a 55 mph construction zone from "now" until 2028 in both directions? 🤣
  • Wait, not a direct train to LA...Rancho Cucamonga is in the IE, which will be another Hour to travel to LA.

Which will open first, brightline west or the LAX people mover? I got my money on brightline west!

Glad to see it get started! Hope it can finish by the Los Angeles Olympics! And please get the High Desert corridor to Palmdale started and finished too so that there's another route to get to LA soon!
  • Brightline West’s website says a travel time of 2 hours 10 minutes, which for 218 miles is an average of 100.6 mph. Metrolink currently takes 74 minutes between LA and Rancho Cucamonga. Add in time to transfer at RC (probably 10 minutes), and that’s about 3 1/2 hours, and that’s just between Union Station and BLW’s Las Vegas station. Now add in transit/rideshare getting to and from the stations, and it’s closer to four hours between downtown LA and the Strip. That’s about on par with the drive time without traffic, which given one of BLW’s main goals is to reduce traffic should be more consistent, and probably an hour longer than flying without delays. It’s worth noting though that the train will provide a nicer travel experience than flying or driving (see Brightline’s Florida service as an example).

QUESTION: Is it a "Magnetic levitation (maglev) train" ? Hope so.
  • @nimue0099
Will there be any stops, like Barstow area?
  • @Luke_Go
This project should be connected to the airports LAX and LAS (similar to what is done in Europe and Japan)
  • @SC-or2ek

  • @PalmBeachDog
What they DID NOT learn in Florida that Rancho Cucamonga is a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles.
  • @Kokopellli

  • @Mike__B
Wait it's actually going into LA proper? I thought it was starting at Rancho Cucomunga?
