  • There is nothing and i mean nothing like hearing the Welsh sing their anthem at a rugby match....and i say that, as others have i see, as an Englishman.
  • Fun fact our anthem "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" was the first national anthem to ever be sung at the start of a sporting event , In 1905, the Welsh national rugby team hosted New Zealand's first touring team, who started every match performing a haka. As a response, Wales player Teddy Morgan led the crowd singing the anthem , since then it's now common around the world for anthems to be sung at the start of sporting events.
  • That's what makes our anthem special, it's not about a person. It's not about a royal family like England. Our anthem is about the land, it's about the people, it's about every single Welsh person. And every Welsh person who hears that anthem is filled with pride and appreciation of our special, beautiful land. It's not an anthem it's pure spirit.
  • Not only did they all sing along, they did the last part in a complex harmony - that's the Welsh!
  • I’m so proud to be Welsh. Our anthem and flag are the best in the world. Can’t help but sing along every time I hear it. The atmosphere in the stadium on match days is incomparable and yes everyone sings with their hearts. Cymru am Byth ( Wales for ever )❤❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
  • As an Englishman, I have to tip my hat and say that this here is an awesome, and inspiring national anthem, and a simply spine tingling display of national fervour. It's no wonder they beat us that day...how could they lose with support like that?

The first time I went to see Wales play at the Millennium Stadium, my mate said to me up front; "Right - no crying during the national anthem you big fairy!" We sang our hearts out, then turned to look at each other - and we both had tears streaming down our faces! I burst out laughing and he went, "Alright, I know, I know..!" And it doesn't matter how many times you experience it, that surge of pride and emotion never diminishes. 😊

I'm English and the Welsh National Anthem being sang at a Welsh rugby is one of the most amazing things to witness/listen to.
  • I'm a Scotsman and have to say I absolutely love listening to the Welsh when they sing their National Anthem. You can feel that pride and passion in it's rawest, best form.
  • Makes me proud to be Welsh. Dwi'n caru Cymru. Annibyniaeth I Gymru!
  • I am English, born in England. Yet, I lived in South Wales for five years as a child and Wales captured my heart forever. Now my granddaughter is born Welsh! How life moves in circles! I PROUDLY sing "Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau" with all my heart <3
  • 👏👏👏 I’m English but that sends shivers down my spine. The English national anthem is nowhere near as emotional 👍
  • I am English to the core and yet the Welsh Anthem sung by rugby fans like that gives me goosebumps and brings a tear in my eye. My Sister loved it so much it was played at her funeral.

  • Its the best anthem and sang in the ancient language of Britain. The volume of sound in Cardiff with true love of country behind it has thousands of us in tears every single time. It's incredible . thank you for enjoying it too my friend. Cymru am Byth.
  • I'm English but I love the Welsh national anthem especially when sung at rugby or football matches.
  • I’m a Welshman and this gave me tingles at the time and still does. This was for the championship and we won.
  • @chrisparti
Just listen to the Welsh crowd harmonise from 1.50 onwards ❤❤❤
  • As you can probably tell by my name I'm Welsh. We do have a pride in our country, our language and culture. Maybe if you look up the history of Wales you might get some idea of why we feel so strongly and why we sing our national anthem with such feeling in our hearts xx

I've had the pleasure, as a Welsh supporter based in England, of being in the stadium for the National Anthem and it's unbelievable. Your whole body feels the vibration, the atmosphere drills into your soul. Imagine being an opponent hearing that before a game. Also during the game the crowd will sing hymns (and arias, a little in joke for the supporters) even the building shakes. It's an amazing amphitheatre where at times you hear individual voices often making comical observations then almost spontaneously a song will start. The voices of Angels, even I sound good in there😂
