The song most often played for the march is by Genaro Codina Fernandez from Zacatecas, Mexico. This song is also Mexico's second national anthem.
The dance is a folk dance that tells a story. The wedding party dances into the hall together to celebrate the new life of the bride and groom. The couple then splits and dances separately to represent the inevitable fights to come in a marriage.
