Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! Ascent or Grand Highlander?
  • @tinker1148
0-60 mph in this is 7 seconds making it slightly faster than Hyundai/Kia and Volkswagen. It’s definitely not under powered.

For a family vehicle, many of us are not looking for innovation or bells and whistles, we are looking for steadfast, reliable, uncomplicated such as analog gauges, easy controls, simplicity and a sure grip on the road. We want a subaru to be a subaru.

No Auto Start/Stop crap here which a lot of competitors do have in their vehicles….thanks for that Subaru! 👍🏾

the power liftgate buttons are on the left because most of the world is right handed so when you pull your cargo out of the back..its most likey with your right hand, meaning your left hand is free to reach up and hit the button.
  • I love mine, which I have had for about a month now. I have not noticed the lack of power. They have it tuned to get the torque when you need it. As for the third row, I would just as soon not have one. I keep them flat. OK for kids. One thing you did not mention is the width of the legroom up front. Some vehicles in this segment, like the Highlander, have you in a bit of a tunnel in the drivers seat. The console is right against your right knee. This has more room laterally, which is nice on a long trip, when you want to move around more. I have Onyx and that adds quite a bit to the price, but it is worth it, IMO. Sound system is great.

If I buy an Ascent, it will be for the towing capacity in a Subaru, not the 3rd row.

Not everyone wants a digital instrument cluster.

I have a Onyx Limited after owning a Toyota Highlander 6 years. I will not go back to Toyota after owning a Subrau

3rd row is t the biggest but all you need to do is adjust the second row and let all rear passengers get even space.
  • @Pccpy
I rent one (2023) in California last summer, I have 5 kids and let me tell you this thing is not underpower. If you push it, you will feel that turbo.

I love my 2020 Ascent so much that I ordered the 2024. Guess it's a Colorado thing!
  • @ZaadiaW
This was a great review. I don't have any 6ft adults riding in the back, so it's perfect

I have a 2021 Touring and it’s been great for family trips and made a joke of the snowy Vermont mountains. It does everything I need and the dog loves the 3rd row to himself. I’ve packed the in-laws into the 3rd row with the dog sitting in between the second row chairs. I’m not a fan of the cvt but the awd is reliable and predictable. Yes I would like another 20-30 hp, but this isn’t a race car.

Have had a 2023 touring for about 9 months (also have a 2020 outback). The boxer 4 turbo is not underpowered for this - have been impressed with it. I personally don’t use the 3rd row and keep it flat. If you are looking for something to haul 7-8 people in on a regular basis, I’d go with something else (e.g. minivan). All wheel drive is what you’d expect from a Subaru. The lane assist and adaptive cruise work well. Good value for the price….I’d buy another one for sure.

I have a 2024 Ascent. I don't think for a minute that it's under-powered. Gets me merging on the highway with no problem at all. Then again, I don't race other people or their cars. Plenty of power for me and it's supposed to tow 5,000 lbs. and that's plenty. Also love the ride.
  • @tinker1148
Subaru changed how they measure cargo volume recently. With all seats down it originally measured 86 cubic feet making it competitive with other makes.
  • @zumba038
Hi what is the tow capacity or the GVWR? Thank you credit video
