My favorite is Google Books. For one of my ancestors i found seven or eight copies of the same book and assumed that they were all the same. Boy was i wrong. I only gleened information from one. A few months later I went back to the same person and chose to review all eight versions. So glad I did. One of the versions not only mentioned him, but also had a picture which others did not. In my research I learned to investigate more clues in Google Books before moving on.
  • I used Google Books to obtain a pdf copy of Forty Years A Fur Trader, it's the diary of Charles Larpentuer, he married one of my great great grandmothers, named Makes Cloud. So she is in their and details of how she was killed and much more

Thank you for this video! I was familiar with google books, but had never heard of archive grid! How exciting to find a new source of information!!! :)
  • I am struggling to find any information on my husband's mother. No birth certificate or record of her birth. We found that she was buried in NY, but the person at cemetery said there is no record of her there. It's like she disappeared. Thank you for your free sites, I will be cking out worldcat & Google books. Thank you for dedication & sharing!!! Sandy
  • I have used Google Books for town and county histories, city directories, and some published genealogies.

Great information. Now I have to watch all your videos.
  • if someone pops up in a tree. how do I find out the connection to me. it stops with that person. thanks
  • @benwob2
You are very helpful, however, many libraries will not loan genealogy materials. Bill😮
  • I have made several requests for inter-library loans related to family histories, and other very local information. Almost 100% of the time these requests are denied because the repositories won't loan them out.
  • @ritaroach3491
I put in a name and archive grid gave me 20 places where he wasn't. No help
