  • Please note this is all pure speculation based on previous / other examples and will not necessarily happen like this. Queen Elizabeth II, 1926-2022
  • Okay, if I'm being honest, I'm not even paying attention to the video. I'm staring at his editing, busy being amazed. The queen winking on the note, the stop motion, and the individual cut out letters. Amazing as always, Chris.
  • I expect King Charles banknotes will coexist for some time alongside the current ones, gradually becoming more common as worn notes are taken out of circulation. As for coins, while it's true that decimalisation killed off most of George VI coins, the one and two shilling coins remained in use (for 5p and 10p coins) alongside the new coins as they were the same size. I remember getting the occasional King George coins in change right up to the redesigned smaller coins came in. I believe the number of coins minted every year has been falling recently so it could be a very long time before the Elizabeth coins disappear. I wouldn't expect a large changeover event of the kind you get with notes.

I'm pretty sure the two florin coin survived decimalisation and continued as the 10p coin, alongside newer versions, until the early nineties. Some of those two florin coins still had King George VI's head on. I'd be grateful if somebody could confirm this. Thinking about it, I also think the old shilling coin survived until the early nineties, too, alongside newer 5p coins.
  • My daughter watches your channel and loves it. I was just having a convo with her about how the money will need to be changed. To my surprise, you have a video on it. I can't wait to show her.

The REAL question is: Does the Queen present herself a letter when she turns 100yo?
  • Actually I recently found, in my wallet, an old quarter from 1947, with George VI on it. It was the first time i saw one without the Queen. It will definitely be strange to see new coins with King Charles III on it instead of our late Majesty.

I would love to see Canada start issuing bank notes that draws from the significance of the First Nations people on that land. have indigenous leaders like Chief Crowfoot adorne new bank notes.

My YouTube recommendations: wANNa sEE WhaT HAPPenS with mONey when the quEeN dies??? Me, a Colombian with little to no relation to the UK: Sure why not
  • I used to work in Radio for the BBC... they have a procedure all set and ready to go for when this event happens, or when any significant Royal dies... the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, William and Harry. Everything from the script to the music played on the station has already been chosen as well as written obituaries. They have been ready for some time.

The irony of the vertical banknotes here in Canada, they seem to have been a one off design since i haven seen them in circulation since.
  • I started coin collecting a while ago, currently have a William III Third coin as my oldest one, and I only now noticed that they face different ways.
  • @kxdsh
if she lived to 100, will she send her self a telegraph?
  • @itsrozana
I feel like she should be kept on the banknote, considering that she spent 70 years on the throne, being the longest in Britain. Other countries keep old people on their bank notes, so it only seems right.
  • Queen elizabeth 2 is not gonna be replaced on the Canadian dollar
