At almost 50 years old, I still have the wonder of a child when it comes to fireworks! 🎇

I can only imagine how much crazy amounts of money was spent for such a spectacular display

I was a pyrotec for many years, shot many shows and i can tell you, it takes a lot of sweat and muscle to pull these off. Aside of what little money we got for shooting a show, where the money was at that time was running the business of selling. What our crew got the most pleasure from was the crowds cheering after, so always raise the noise for lengthy amount of time. From a retired pyrotechnics person.

Imagine seeing Godzilla lurking through the smoke in the end.

This is some Gandalf level shit right here.

These were next level fireworks. Wow. Multicolored, huge, and just amazing. Top of the line.

🇺🇸: Let’s set off 500 fireworks for a finalé. 🇯🇵: Let’s set off one firework for a finalé.

For the assorted people who have wondered about the cost: This is the Katakai-Matsuri firework festival (2014). The single finale shell (48") was estimated to cost approximately $1500.00 USD (about $154,000.00 Yen in 2014). Between the other fireworks (mostly created right there in Katakai), transportation, setup, etc., and bearing in mind that this is only the last ~4mins of the show... this was probably around a $100K show (USD, so again, 2014 Yen: approx $10,247,000.00). And just fyi: not as random an estimate as you might think. I'm a professional pyrotechnician. I work smaller shows than this one but I know what goes into them and what they cost. Scaling up is approximated, of course, but I'd be surprised if I were off by very much.
  • To the company that was hired to do that show. You are exceptional. That was a fantastic show on you tube. I can only imagine what it must have been in person

I HATE IT when they put music over the beautiful sounds of fireworks. Can't we just enjoy the booms ?
  • @martylorenz5560
i dont understand why the events play music over the fireworks... it totally ruins the experience and display.

When the firework is so big it’s carrier is referred to as a “shell”
