After only the first couple of days at Parris Island I thought to myself "what a big mistake I made". But it was no mistake. I am now 73 years old, and I am still a Marine. Semper Fi to all my Marine brothers.
  • My dad was a Marine in world war II. He was hands-down the most bad ass man I have ever met. Sadly I lost him over two decades ago. I miss you Marine.

“We’re surrounded. That simplifies the problem. They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can’t get away now.” Chesty Puller, Chosin Reservoir, Korea
  • Army SF Major once said: "Marines are different from the Army because they only want to be Marines. They didn't enlist for a trade skill or college money. They are happy with violence.".

Once a Marine, always a Marine. I'm 65 years old and still feel like I've never left. Semper Fi!!!!!!
  • Dear God, Please hold the Marines we just lost in Afghanistan close to your heart, they are heroes, all of them…….please help their friends and family get through this very emotional and difficult time. And God remember, the Marine Corps guards the gates to Heaven, so you know you are safe. Semper Fi……..

  • Mission of an FMF Navy Corpsman: "To keep as many Marines at as many guns, for as many days as possible". " To Hell and back for a wounded Marine". Former Navy Corpsman, First Marine Brigade, Vietnam vet.
  • Married 2 USMC Vets, raised 2 USMC . Almost lost one at Faluja. Both husband's died from Vietnam- one was dead when he returned, but we didn't know it. The other took his life- couldn't deal with memories. One son lost his leg, but he's aliv. The other son is a OTR Truckers, but still a Marine..
  • Once a Marine. Always a Marine! It's the Marines that guard the streets of Heaven.

In November of 1976 I went into an Airforce Recruiter's office. I told him I had just left the Marine Corps office and was 'looking at joining'. The Airforce Recruiter said, 'oh man, you don't want to join the Marines. They eat nails for breakfast and only train to fight". Thinking this over I quickly made a decision: USMC Retired Gunnery Sergeant Aug 1977 thru Jun 1998. You had me at 'eat nails for breakfast'.

I am not a Marine but I’m the son of a Marine. My father went from Paris Island to fight at Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, and Peleliu where he was wounded. He was with Puller’s First Regiment, (1,1,1). He went to Pullers funeral in Saluda, VA. I keep the family subscription to Leatherneck current and will pass that on to my son someday. My father is fittingly buried at Quantico National Cemetery. Thank you all Marines.

  • I read Chesty was at a banquet in his honor, they finally dragged him up for a speech...he waited for the endless applause to stop, then simply growled "MARINES!" and then took his seat. Awesome.

Once you are a Marine, no matter how old you are, you will never be the same. You are ALWAYS a Marine! Semper Fi.

I was 10 when my career Navy Dad took me aboard ship for a personal tour. A Marine was standing guard at an entrance on deck. I asked my Dad, "Is he in the military like you, Dad?" My dad said, "No, son. He's in the Military. I'm just in the Navy."
