My #1 Beginner Keyboard Recommendation

As a beginning piano student, you need a keyboard that has 88 or 76 keys, weighted keys, and is affordable. I've found the best value keyboards are Yamaha's.

Here is my top keyboard recommendation.
Yamaha P-125
amzn.to/2yZophe

This is a great keyboard for a beginner and also a great keyboard to grow into.

This is absolutely astonishing. I've been at this for decades and this is the clearest and most comprehensive and succinct introduction to chords I've ever come across. In summary, it's an educational masterpiece. My compliments (and gratitude!) to the chef.

Ive been doing this for most of my life and I can honestly say, this channel is the absolute truth.
  • @MidnightCrescent
This has got to be the most straight forward and comprehensive explanation for chords and their notation that's (relatively) friendly and understandable for new learners on the entire internet.

He is a tasteful pianist as well as a clear and knowledgeable educator. A relief to find a genuine musician who actually knows what he's talking about and can present useful material rather than the often confused and mediocre material available.

I just happened to stumble across your video.. I am a private teacher in my 56th year of teaching…yes I am passionate about teaching. I explain to my students everything you are showing in your video. And I create worksheets and videos to show this. Your video is much better looking than mine. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Ellie

This video is going to be THE legendary YouTube lesson about chords for coming years. (And I can't explain how timely this video was for me) (Also, this was posted after a 5 year gap? wow)

As a jazz musician, this is amazing! I would suggest making a part 2 to this video using some basic standards implementing your teachings, and also making a part 2 of how you can learn to comp using simple block chords and maybe teaching basic alternate voicing that a typical jazz pianist would use! Similar to your intro of "Someone to Watch Over Me"

I can't thank you enough for clarifying these foundational concepts that have been overly complicated by mostly everyone. You have made me gain more faith in myself and made me believe that I can actually do this, no words to explain how relieved I am right now. Thank you so so much.
  • @Dr.Funknstein
This has been the most informative, densely packed and useful content on music education ive consumed in probably 10 years. Respect you so much for teaching this in such a perfect manner.
