4:30 "Since 2005, 42 private vessels over 100m were build. Of those 14 are know to belong to russian oligarchs". To give you an idea. Russia's GDP is as low as a 20th of the GDP of the USA. The world's GDP in 2021 wa 94 Trillion. Russia makes up a junk under 2% of that GDP. Yet they have a 1/3 of those hyeryachts worldwide - and these are just the yachts that are KNOWN to be Russian.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn writes in his book 'The first Circle' (1973): "People don't know what they are striving for. They waste themselves in senseless thrashing around for the sake of a handful of goods and die without realizing their spiritual wealth"

the end of this video saying, "the rich are out of touch with regular ppl" (aka wealth distribution) applies to literally almost everywhere.

Worked the Monte-Carlo Yacht show for two years in 2018 and 2019. They have tons of Russian Magazines my boss explaind that a majority of people that are coming were Russian. I thought it was a joke because I thought they were communist or whatever so they didn't have millionaires. I was wrong, and also rich people love to talk about new ways to avid taxes.

Now if the US would start doing this to its own oligarchs....

Thank you (to the open source enthusiast). Making such information USABLE and understandable is so much better than just 'numbers in a spreadsheet'. For other enthusiasts; I don't know if such information exists (probably not as Open Data, because of regulations), but it would be amazing to see something like this for real estate. (Or for allocation of countries' budgets to specific cities, regions, or institutions). Is there a list somewhere of Open Data sources? (like.. types of data available?) I've always been very interested in this stuff, but have no idea where to start. - Also, thank you VICE, for reporting on this. For picking this up and featuring the effort, but also for making it more easily digestible for the general public. Painting the context around the visual data, and using your platform and reach is also extremely valuable work.
