  • He is NOT lying! When I was 15 years old in the mid 90’s I auditioned for LaFace Records who sent an exec and I sung for him in the living room of my family’s home! Everything went fine and they were wanting to sign me to do an album and things were looking great
..until
.they found out my father was a military tank commander vet and my parents had been married before I was born and were still together
..they didn’t care that my mother was a school teacher
they didn’t feel threatened by that but when they found out that I didn’t live in a single family home and I wasn’t in poverty and my father was an ex tank commander
shyt got real 😂 they wanted no parts of me and told me that all of a sudden the deal had fell through

.decades later I had a good friend who worked for a major record label who told me that these labels TARGET and specifically go after “artist” who come from single family homes, poverty, have no fathers, live in the projects/ghettos and that is because they are vulnerable and WILL do anything they are told to do (and also included they will agree to pushing agendas!) when he told me this my mouth hit the floor and I shared with him my story and he said oh yeah lol they DEF didn’t want no parts of you lol because you would not conform to what they wanted because you were already trained by your militant father to think strategically, logically and intelligently and these labels DO NOT want intelligent “artist”! So there you have have it and Gipp being inside just further confirmed what I have know but many ppl have no clue how that business actually works! These “artists” are nothing more than pawns/puppets to push agendas!

Starting to hear more and more of this. We are all tired, sick and tired of this trash being put on us. The pendulum is swinging. We're getting back to excellence!

“This is the Devil’s playground when God ain’t involved”-Gipp
  • "We sell trauma".. That is one of the most eye opening quotes I ever heard in my life when it comes to our music!!
  • @obilodotcom
"Its the devil's playground when God ain't involved." Write that down. Facts! In life thats absolute truth he just spoke.

I was in the fashion industry back in 2009. Started to slowly creep into music. Had an opportunity to work for Cheo. Went out to NY for two days trying to lock-in the interview but, things kept falling through the cracks. Mom dukes prayed that I wouldn’t get it. I appreciate her for that.

A lot of people don’t want to hear that the power of music has a lot of influence. They’ve been feeding it to our people for years.
  • @OCTOmgnt
Big Gipp ...speaking the realist shit that most of these dudes are scared to man up and say in this industry. Salute brother
  • He understands the true power of music. When you influence the power of music with the power of “currency”, and the power of “imagery” you can do some incredible things.
  • You can tell BIG GIPP IS A REAL ONE! He always keep it a BUCK! SALUTE!
  • Gipp is wrong bout one thing- there were elders and others WARNING US about the dangers of this toxic music and the imagery that came wit it- but they were undermined by the powers-that-be, and some of US (including ME) liked the music so much WE didn't wanna believe them.
  • Gipp dropping pure knowledge. They did the same thing when Black Fashion was crushing Polo,Tommy, and the rest of them. What did they do,they got together and gave every rapper a fashion line. This over saturated the market. Now ain’t one Black Fashion label left and n*gas back buying Polo and Designers again. Gipp and the Goodie need a Podcast
  • Mad Respect for Big Gip, he is spitting facts! As crazy as it sounds it’s true, music is witchcraft and the award show performances is the represented sacrifice.
  • My dad use to listen to a lot of Goodie Mob back in the day. I was never a hardcore fan aside from some of their more popular songs. I’ve seen a lot of old school musicians come out of the industry and drop some knowledge on us but this was profound. He, in the most eloquent way just told us as a consumer what’s really behind that curtain. There are kids today wanting to know what’s behind the curtain, who won’t stop until they get back there and see some wizard of oz shit and by then it’s too late.
  • @chronwell1
Too real. He said a whole lot of tabernacle in this interview. Reverend Gipp is his new title.
  • @lg6400
Man, Gipp ain't lying. You have to walk in the rooms and let these people know that you will not compromise your principles. In every aspect, not just in the music industry.
  • @Mrdevotedhustla
Stand for something instead of falling for nothing! Much respect to Big Gip and all of the Goodie Mob and Outkast. I grew up listening to them and they got me through some hard times. Personally coming from the dirty south, I salute you and thank you for making real conscious music
  • This should've been way longer than it is. I could listen to Big Gipp for hours on this. I'm glad I didn't sign wit Sony back then.
