We fail to credit the industrial boom prior to IT Boom which mainly helped develop the city post independence. Ram krishna Baliga who envisioned Bangalore to become a Silicon Valley and thus setting up Electronic City even before liberalisation of our economy,Krishna Raja Wadiyar 4 who helped set up IISC with huge donation, land allotment and many other institutions, hospitals and residential areas. And most of all ,the Cantonment nature of Bangalore, which always welcomed people from other states without language barriers. (which back then had mainly Kannadigas ,Teluguites and Tamilians )

The biggest contribution for bengalurus growth in early day's was from Mysore, the king back then gave 400acres of bengaluru land for Tata's experiments. You also forgot to mention history btw Kempegowda from rich empire Vijayanagara and Bengaluru.
