I am a WordPress expert now but when I started freelancing I had very small knowledge of WordPress and HTML CSS . the thing matters a lot is motivation and power of learning you have

This is god advice. There are tons of WordPress jobs on Upwork that don't require programming skills. Most of the time there is a plugin to do what the client needs. No need to code it yourself if a solution already exists. Learning how to troubleshoot WordPress issues is also incredibly valuable. Like fixing a plugin or theme update that crashes a site, plugin or theme conflicts, WordPress quirks, etc.
