She's exactly the sort of person who if she'd been around a hundred or more years ago would be attributing precisely the same things to "the second coming", "the end times", and "the impending apocalypse". They're too dim to know why natural phenomena actually happen, all they can do is try clumsily to map it on to the dominant religion of the time, and today, that's "the climate catastrophe".

On Monday, 8 April, 2024, in Texas, during the 4-hour eclipse transit, the public electrical power grid lost 13 Gigawatts of power because thermal radiation from the sun onto online solar farms was partially or wholly blocked. The state electrical power authority, ERCOT, responded through these actions: 1. Added 8 gigawatts of electrical power supply online by issuing orders to natural gas-fired power plants to start up and apply their electrical power to the grid. 2. Reduced electrical power demand by 5 gigawatts by issuing orders to participating bitcoin mining operators to halt or reduce mining operations for these four hours. Summary: -Nature reduced electrical power supply from solar farms: 13 GW. -ERCOT Increased Nat-Gas supplied power: 8 GW -ERCOT Reduced power demand by stopping/slowing BTC mining: 5 GW. There was a lot of very dynamic coordination that ERCOT orchestrated with public utility providers during this time. Their very-capable coordination effort allowed the Texas power grid along and to either side of the eclipse transit path to operate without disruption. Fortunately, ERCOT and the participating public electrical utilities have a LOT of talented and hardworking engineers on staff that anticipated this event. ERCOT and the public utilities made this work without us having to think or know about it. Fools like this unwise and inexperienced person are, thankfully, not employed by these companies. As citizens, we owe it to these people (fools, plebs and brainiacs) to do the right thing even as they don’t do the right thing. Basically to be kind to others as we are kind to ourselves.
