Ep 4 Hunder to Turtuk, Thang village(India POK Border), Ladakh | Sand dunes at Hunder | Nubra Valley

This was our 6th day in Ladakh, we started our journey from Leh, after visiting in & around Leh we reached the Nubra valley. Our journey was Nubra valley started from Turtuk and then we proceeded towards Thang to see the POK, ie border of India and Pakistan.

We stayed at Hunder at a place which is located in the Nubra valley on the banks of Shyok river. The Shyok river originates from the Rimo glacier & meets the Nubra River and becomes Shyok which further joins Indus river near Skardu.

Here we booked our room in Goba House Inn at Hunder, Nubra valley.
Tariff - Rs 2000 without Breakfast and Dinner.
Rs 3000 for double Occupancy with Breakfast and Dinner.

Hunder to Turtuk - 85 km
Turtuk to Leh - 205 Km

Below are the activities / key destinations we visited during the journey.

We started our day from Hunder to travel to Turtuk, which is around 85 km, we travel across the Shyok river.

Turtuk - It is a village located in the Leh district of the union territory of Ladakh, India. It is situated in the northeastern part of Ladakh, close to the Line of Control (LoC) that separates India and Pakistan-administered territories. It is a lesser visited place, considered to be an offbeat location in Leh-ladakh.

Heritage House or Museum - Managed by the Turtuk women welfare society, Ticket - Rs 50 Here we saw the ancient Vessels & artifacts which are kept in this museum.

Royal Palace of Yabgo Dynasty - This palace was built in the 16th Century by the famous king Yabgo Turab khan for a summer house. Ticket - Rs 100 per person with Guided tour.

Balti Kitchen - There we had Balti cuisine - Gragthur - Rs 320 & Tsamik - Rs 320 but we only ordered Tsamik.

Thang village - It is about 10 km from Turtuk & 95 km from Hunder, it is the last village, one can see the POK with naked eyes. Tourist cannot do night stay in Thang village.

Hunder sand dunes - Silver sand dunes are located at an altitude of 4000m.

Then we ended our day at Hunder
