Got My Canner, Now What? Water Bath Canning for Beginners~The Kneady Homesteader

Published 2019-01-01
This is just a simple video on how "I" set up my water bath canner for a water bath canning session of high acid foods. This is just to help out anyone who may be new to water bath canning, to show them a bit of the canning process before and after a canning session. Set up, prep, clean-up. I hope this helps someone and as always, if you have any questions, leave them down in the comment section for me and I will try my best to answer them.

I am a culinary school graduate from way back in the day. We learned all there was to know about canning. You have surpassed the teaching we received and refreshed my memory on this timeless skill.I hope you read old comments so you will know you have become my most very favorite channel.

I’ve been canning for years. Just wanted to tell you your a very sweet person and your eyes show your happiness. God bless
  • Being brand new to canning, this video was wonderfully helpful ... especially all the details in the prep part. I think you must be a natural-born teacher! Thank you!
  • Excellent video for not only beginners but those of us who maybe haven't canned anything in a long time. Thanks Heather!
  • How wonderful for you to help people & give encouragement, we love you for this. And for not forgetting about all the people still wanting to learn. This is only half of what makes you so wonderful!

You are just so sweet. I have only recently started watching your channel but I think of you almost daily and what you must be going through. As a wife and mother I so empathize with you and pray for you. You were so brave in your videos but I think its because you were still in shock and you felt you owed everonr an explanation of where you had been, but please know that all any of us really want is for you and your children to recover from your physical injuries and feel our love as you recover from your heart aches. Just feel our love and know God has a reason for all things and he will be right there with you.
  • This is one of the best videos I’ve seen on exactly HOW to water bath can. Clear, concise, and to the point step by step. Thank you!!!!
  • Instead of pouring that hot water down the drain, I use it for kitchen cleanup.  We pay for city water and it is expensive.  Great video. Thanks.
  • Thank you for taking the time to show from start to finish. Sometimes people unintentionally assume so they skip things. This is great! Kudos to Matt for being a help! Loving the canning collab so far! 👍
  • Just found your channel. I used to can, but at 77 years old, it's difficult for me. I freeze almost everything now. You do as I did. Wash, sterilize. Always. My mil taught me how to can in 1965 when I was first married.Thank you for making this informative video. Hopefully, more young women will be encouraged by your video. ❤️ I hear your littles in the background. Reminds me of when I was young. Wonderful memories. ❤ Great husband. 😊

Love the thoughtfulness of this video as well as the great info. It feels like we had coffee together rather than someone preaching their way is the only right way. Love that!
  • SO GLAD I FOUND THIS! I can obviously read....but I'm a visual learner so this helps alot!

Excellent video, can I suggest for us elders to put pot on stove and add water with a pitcher then.👍❤️
  • Still watching for your algorithm . Praying for you and your children 🌸

Just wanted to say thank you for this. I've got some learning disabilities and I've watched so many videos and even bought a simple book on water bath canning but haven't had that 'ah ha!' moment until now. I don't know why Im like this but am very grateful for people like you that go step by step without all the fluff filler talk so I can finally understand and give canning a shot❤

Thank You Ma'am, The children playing in the background is better than any music
  • Just watched this again because I'll be canning my tomatoes and broke I to tears seeing Matt again. Love you Heather and always thinking of you. ❤
  • @ayayanable
Thank you for actually SHOWING the water boiling in your canner. Lots of people have explained it, but no one else has SHOWN it....Much appreciated.
  • I have attempted to watch basic canning videos and you managed to keep my full attention the entire time! I am so grateful for your character and the love that you reflect in doing so! You’re awesome sauce!
