Hyjal PTR, including parts of drunk Q&A

Got into Hyjal PTR early morning (CET) on november 22nd, 2020.

At 2:10:40 I joined voice chat for that Q&A. The second voice you hear is that of returnflag who rambles on quite a lot.


The Hyjal Project is a vanilla wow private server that will presumably launch in 2021, and has a lot of staff from Light's Hope and Nostalrius I believe.

Edit 2021-03-14:
The server was launched February 13th, 2021, at 1800 CET. However, there was an issue that caused the server to cap out at around 900 players, while everyone else trying to log in got stuck at the login screen. This was resolved after some hours. If I remember correctly, staff mentioned that around 1400 people were unable to log in.

Disaster! On March 10th, at 1 or 2 in the morning CET, there was a fire in the building that housed the server, and it appeared to have burned up completely. See this video for some info on the fire:    • Video  

Fortunately the server had a backup so it wasn't completely lost, however it it took time to gain access to that backup and meanwhile staff planned some changes for the server (presumably because the server hadn't been as successful as they had hoped).

On March 14th they released an announcement, declaring that there will be a relaunch, with increased XP-rates, profession-rates, reduced spell-training cost and such. The progress from the "burned" server will be available for transfer one month after the relaunch


Edit 2021-05-22:

On April 10th the server was re-launched, now with realm name Phoenix, to reference it's rebirth. The realm was fresh, kind of, meaning that character from before were locked for three weeks, being unlocked on 1st of May.


Unfortunetly, on May 21st it was announced that the server would be closing, because of the low and declining pop. Players would have the option to export the accounts to TurtleWow server. Sentenced to close on May 26th.


RIP Hyjal, I enjoyed playing there.

    RPPVP would probably be the best option. I think the RP community is much bigger than you think it is. If word got around that a new Private Server that was RPPVP you'd without a doubt have more people coming to play Hyjal. One thing I would like to see is how the factions will balance themselves out. I'm really hoping that it'll be somewhat even to make the world PvP feel spot on. Another thing I would like to see is the old classic water changed to the new water somehow with a mini patch, if that's even possible. Last thing I would like to see is Name Reservations, i'd pay to have mine reserved. Overall I think this is going to be a great private server if we can get the community built up to 2 or 3k on each side at least of consistent players. (which i'm sure isn't going to be hard with a bit of advertising) Thanks guys for keeping the Vanilla WoW community going!
